Redmption 118
I felt a flush of embarrassment as soon as the words left my mouth.
Had I been too blunt? Surely, Brandon must have felt awkward, too.
But instead of distancing himself, he paused for almost half a minute before responding with a
simple “Oh“.
I was surprised.
Oh? How could he have been so calm?
I looked up at him, and only then did he slowly straighten up.
“Your eyesight isn’t great,” he exined patiently. “I pointed it out to you, but you still couldn’t find it.
How else could I help without getting closer?”
His exnation made perfect sense, leaving me feeling like I was the one overthinking things.
Then, Brandon casually walked oyer to a chair, settled down, and picked up his tablet to work on
something.
After sneaking a few nces at him, I sipped some tea to calm my nerves so
could refocus on work.
There were indeed a few minor issues in the document Brandon had marked, but nothing major. He
could have handled them himself easily.
If he needed rification, a simple phone call would have sufficed. He made me wait sote to
review these issues, and it seemed unnecessary.
Was he doing this on purpose? I couldn’t help but sneak another couple of nces at him.
But Brandon was engrossed in his work. He didn’t once meet my gaze, making me feel like I was
being overly suspicious.
After addressing the issues he’d marked, I nced over at him.
To my surprise, Brandon had fallen asleep with the tablet in his arms.
I’d thought he was immune to fatigue, but clearly, I was wrong. He was human, not immortal. Even
gods need rest, as the celestial beings in today’s show
dozed off.
I watched him quietly.
His closed eyes and tanned skin exuded a masculine charm. His high nose bridge, illuminated by
the overhead light, made him look just as captivating as any main character in a TV series
enhanced by special effects.
Thinking about how Kara hadined about being tired, Brandon must have been even more
exhausted.
As I worked alongside him these past few days, he often delegated various tasks.
But all the while, he was bustling up and down and even adjusted the lights. His work required both
physical exertion and mental strain. Content (C) N?v/elDra/ma.Org.
By the end of each day, he was definitely more worn out than I was. So, he must have been
exhausted to be able to fall asleep like that.
Suddenly, a gust of wind lifted the curtains, and I felt a chill. Seeing Brandon in his short sleeves, I
quietly got up, picked up a nket from the bed, and
covered him with it.
”
I must have made a noise, or perhaps he was a light sleeper, because the moment the nket
touched him, he woke up.
He sped my hand so tightly that it felt like my bones might break.
“Ow,” I gasped.
He loosened his grip slightly but held on, staring at me intently.
Up close, I saw my own panicked reflection in his eyes and the depth of his dark pupils.
He remained silent. My lips trembled, but words failed me. We continued to gaze at each other until
my awkward stance caused my leg to cramp, nearly making me stumble.
Brandon reached out with his other hand to support me.
With both my hands now in his grasp, I quickly regained my senses and exined, “… I noticed you
had fallen asleep and thought you might get cold, so I covered you with a nket.”

Realizing how it might sound, I added hastily, “Don’t get me wrong. I didn’t
mean anything by it. I just… I was concerned about you getting sick, affecting our debugging in
return.”
I tried to free my hands and escape, but Brandon didn’t let go. Instead, he pulled me closer.
Caught off guard, I almost fell into hisp. “Brandon…”
“Were you just worried I’d get sick and affect the debugging?” His voice was low and husky from
sleep.
With my heart pounding, and cheeks flushed, I managed a breathless “yes“.
