    Wasn’t he a taxi driver? Why was he also the lighting technician I had been so impressed by?


    At that very moment, I felt like I was dreaming.


    “Mr. Howell, this is Ms. Crown.” Mr. Lachy introduced us.


    He reached out a hand. “Hello, Ms. Crown.”

    I was still frozen in my seat. From my angle, his perfect jawline was on full disy as well as the


    sensual Adam’s apple that had frankly popped up in my mémory a few times.


    Kara nudged me lightly with her elbow, causing me toe back to my senses


    and reach out a hand.


    Our handshake was barely a brush of fingertips. He immediately said, “Please continue with your


    meal, Ms. Crown. I’ll take a look at the lighting first.”


    “No need. I’ll go with you guys,” I said. I was about to walk away, but Brandon‘ remained in ce.


    He suddenly looked at Mr. Lachy and asked, “Have you eaten, Mr. Lachy? I haven’t had my lunch


    yet. Is there anything to eat around here?”


    Mr. Lachy smiled. “Yes, I’ve eaten,” he said before looking at me and saying, ” We can order some


    food here, right?”


    I immediately picked up on what he wanted and told Kara, “Kara, order some food for Mr. Howell.”


    “Okay!” Kara replied. She quickly opened the delivery app and asked, “What would you like, Mr.


    Howell? Pasta? Maybe a sandwich? There are a bunch of cuisines avable.”


    He pointed at my half–eaten takeout container. “This is fine.”


    I was eating an extra–spicy aglio olio pasta that I had specifically asked Kara to


    order.


    However, Brandon was from the South. I wasn’t sure if he could handle the extra spice. I was


    surprised that he even wanted to order it at all..


    “Great! This is amon dish here. I didn’t know you guys had the same tastebuds!” Kara said as


    she ordered for him.

    I cleared my throat unnaturally and looked at Brandon and Mr. Lachy. “Should

    “Let’s finish our lunch first. We need to eat to have the energy to work,”


    Brandon said as he put his backpack down and took a bottle of water out of the side pocket. He


    tilted his head back to take a few gulps.


    His Adam’s apple bobbed clearly due to the motion of swallowing, and I couldn’t help myself from


    gulping along with him.


    His lunch would take at least 20 more minutes to reach. He looked at me while holding the half–


    empty water bottle and said, “Please enjoy your lunch, Ms. Crown. We’ll go over and take a quick


    look in the meantime.”


    Brandon then walked away with Mr. Lachy. Kara nudged me again and said, He’s so handsome and


    manly!”


    People were always drawn to shiny things. Kara had obviously fallen for Brandon’s good looks.


    To be fair, she had excellent taste.

    “You already have a boyfriend, right?” I said as I took a mouthful of pasta.


    She chuckled. “I’m just looking at the menu! He’s leaving after he’s done with the lighting anyway,


    so nothing big is going to happen.”


    I choked on my pasta when I heard that. She looked so tame and orderly that those flirtatious words


    came as an honest shock to me.


    “You’re a ygirl!” I said, amused. Then I reminded her seriously, “Work is still work. Don’t be led


    astray by those thoughts of yours.”


    “It would be so boring to stay here for a whole month without something to look forward to. Don’t


    worry, Ms. Crown. I won’t do anything that goes against. my values,” Kara said, seeming to already


    have her sights set on him.


    I thought about what Brandon told me before and shook my head lightly.


    Brandon’s food took 22 minutes to be delivered, and Kara spent all 22 minutes talking about


    Brandon.


    I guess Kara proved to me that love at first sight existed.


    I couldn’t help but feel like I would be a culprit if Kara dumped her current boyfriend for Brandon.


    Besides, I felt like Brandon wouldn’t like Kara.


    Even though Kara was just trying to get rid of her boredom, I knew that falling for someone was as


    hard to undo as a fresh injury.


    In order to stop her from getting hurt, it was better for me to nip the problem in the bud.


    Thus, I said, “He’s already into someone.


    “Huh?” Kara looked at me. “How


    d you know? Do you know him?”


    If I said yes, that would just lead to even more exining.
