    Chapter 1916

Lambert’s face shifted swiftly, his eyes betraying a flicker of rm. “You know about it?”

    “Every detail!” came the retort.

Indeed, Lambert had probed into Ste’s death, but her demise had been shrouded in secrecy within

their inner circle, and he wasn’t exactly a regr in the mercenary haunts.

After Ste passed away, it was as though she had been erased from existence, leaving no trace

behind. Despite his efforts, Lambert hade up empty-handed.

Years had passed, yet the mystery around her death remained an unresolved knot in his heart.

It seemed Raiden not only understood the events of the past but had also managed to dig up a

    thorough dossier on him.

Lambert squinted at Raiden, suddenly realizing that this man was indeed formidable.

When Lambert returned to the vi, Estelle was still awake.

She had just finished a video call with Jonathan and was about to go downstairs for a ss of water

when she saw Lambert enter. She was surprised at his early return.

Lambert smiled at her, “What, you knew I wasing back and decided to wait for me?”

“I was thirsty!” Estelle uttered simply, heading to the kitchen.

She grabbed a bottle of ice-cold water and offered it to Lambert, “Want some?”

Lambert shook his head, “I’m good, I have stomach-ache.”

“Then get some sleep early!” Estelle replied, taking her water upstairs.

“Hey!” Lambert called after her with a helpless chuckle, “I say I’m not feeling well, and you don’t even

    care?”

    Estelle nced back at him, “I’m responsible for your personal safety. A stomach-ache won’t kill you;

it’s not within my job description!”

    Lambert was speechless.

As Estelle’s figure disappeared around the corner of the staircase, he quirked an eyebrow. Such a

heartless yet fascinating bodyguard; he had to admit, he was rather fond of her.

The next morning, as Estelle made her way downstairs, Lambert was already up, waiting for her in the

dining room to have breakfast together.

Estelle approached, and Lambert pulled out a chair for her, “We’ve got a full breakfast today, should be

    something to your liking.”

He had noticed her sweet tooth.

Estelle sat down, and indeed, the breakfast spread wasvish with a variety of pastries.

Lambert poured her some milk, “I’ve got a meeting with Raidenter this morning. Just like before,

you’ll wait for me at the cafe.”

    Estelle nodded, “Got it!”

Lambert looked up with a handsome smile, “that’s a good girl!”

Estelle focused on her meal, ignoring his teasing.

After breakfast, they both headed out. Today, it wasn’t Huff who picked them up but Winston.

They exchanged pleasantries and got into the car.

Once seated, Estelle whispered, “Is Huff really the right hand man?”

It seemed Winston was more of Raiden’s confidant.

Lambert replied, “Huff parachuted into Zion a week ago, previously he was with Triceratops.”

Estelle nodded, piecing together the subtle dynamics between Raiden and Triceratops.

With the driver present, they cut their conversation short.

The car stopped outside an office building, and as Estelle got out, she turned to Lambert, “Be careful. If

you’re not back in an hour, I’ming up.”

She had timed his meetings; they usually wrapped up within an hour.

The light in Lambert’s brown eyes danced as he smiled warmly, “Alright, wait for me!”

    “Go on,” Estelle said.
