    Chapter 1908

Lambert gave a sly chuckle, "Don''t recognize your savior?"

Evelyn stared at him, her mind nk.

Estelle said, "It''s just a few hours until dawn. Let''s go upstairs and rest. We can talk about everything

    else tomorrow."

Evelyn nodded anxiously, following Estelle upstairs.

Estelle set her up in the room next to her own. "There are pajamas and some clothes in the closet for

you to change into. Make yourself at home."

Evelyn looked at Estelle gratefully. "Thank you, I really appreciate it. You''ve saved me twice."

"Don''t mention it. Besides, the person who saved you this time was the guy you saw downstairs."

    Estelle exined.

The girl blinked in surprise, "It was really him who saved me? Was I rude to hime just now?"

The bar had been too chaotic. She had been terrified, not knowing what was happening. When she

was brought to this vi, she was still in fear.

Estelle smiled softly, "Don''t worry, he won''t mind."

She eyed the girl, "You said you''re from Azeroth City?"

    "Yes." The girl nodded.

Estelle inquired, "You came here alone? Aren''t your parents worried?"

Evelyn''s eyes dropped, "I''m not their biological child. They adopted me when I was four. But after they

had a son of their own, they kind of stopped paying attention to me."

Estelle''s eyes twitched slightly, "How old are you now?"

    "Twenty-five," Evelyn replied.

Estelle looked at her thoughtfully, then nodded. "Rest for now. You''re safe here, at least for the

    moment."

    "Goodnight," Evelyn murmured, still shivering.

Estelle turned to leave, quietly closing the door behind her before heading back downstairs.

Lambert was lounging on the patio with a drink in hand, his long legs casually propped on a footstool.

    "Still up?" Estelle approached.

Lambert grinned, "Life''s too short to waste all of it sleeping, don''t you think?"

    "Thanks for today!" Estelle said.

Lambert poured another drink and handed it to Estelle, "How will you thank me?"

Estelle took a seat, gazing out at the city that never sleeps, and said in a soft voice, "By continuing to

    do my duty—keeping you safe."

Lambert gave a charming smile, "That''s your job, isn''t it? How can that be thanks?"

Estelle raised her ss slightly, "Regardless, I owe you one."

Their sses clinked together, a crisp sound in the night air. "Even if you forget, I''ll remind you,"

    Lambert replied.

He downed his drink and asked, "Why are you so kind to that Evelyn? Don''t tell me it''s just because of

    your kind heart."

Estelle took a deep breath, her gaze drifting into the distance, "Maybe it''s fate."

Lambertughed, "That''s an even less reliable answer than good-heartedness!"

Estelle smiled briefly, saying nothing more.

It was the first time Lambert had seen her smile. Her eyes were shining, the delicate profile of her face

soft yet pure—an aura of gentlenessbined with strength and vivacity that mesmerized him.

Estelle finished her drink, "I''m heading to bed. For me, sleep isn''t a waste of time."

With that, she set down her ss and stood up to leave.

Lambert watched her retreating figure, his deep eyes curving into a handsome smile.

The next morning at breakfast, Evelyn told Estelle that she nned to stay in Zion and apply for a job

as a waitress at a local bar.

She had seen Lynn there once, and she was sure she could see him again.

Security was tight everywhere in Zion. Besides that, she had no idea where else she could find Lynn.
