Chapter 1739
Emily woke up early and steamed some muffins and made some oatmeal. She then sent a message to
Estelle asking if she wanted toe down for breakfast.
With the food was nearly ready, Kya woke up. Emily washed Kya''s face, changed her clothes, and sat
her on the couch to braid her hair.
“Mommy, are you taking the day off today?” Kya asked with herrge, innocent eyes.
Ms. Simmon hadn''te, which meant her mom was taking the day off.
“Yes, would you like to go out and have some fun?” Emily said with a smile.
Kya immediately nodded, “Yes!"
“Well, be a good girl and finish your breakfast. Then I will take you to the amusement park!"
Kya grinned brightly, and her eyes curled into crescent moons. “Can I invite Estelle and Magdalen to
join us?"
“Estelle has sses today and she won''t have the time,” Emily exined. “Magdalen has her own
ns. So it''s just Mommy who can apany you. Is that okay?"

“Okay!” Kya nodded obediently.
Emily finished braiding her hair. When they went to have their breakfast, her phone rang..
She picked it up and answered, “Mom!"
Gina chuckled on the other end. “Emily, you''re taking the day off today, aren''t you? You haven''t been
back home for a while. Why don''t youe over today? I can make some homemade pasta."
Emily replied calmly, “No, thanks, I promised to take Kya to the amusement park today."
“Oh, I see” Ginaughed awkwardly. “Actually, there''s something I wanted to talk to you about. Your
cousin wanted to work at the James Corporation, but he didn''t pass the interview. I was hoping you
could put ina good word for him since you and Mr. James have a good rtionship. It''s really just a
matter of Mr. James saying a word."
Emily cut her off, "I can''t help. I''ve already resigned from the James Corporation."
“You resigned?" Gina sounded surprised. “When did this happen?"
“Over half a month ago. I''ve found a new job,’ Emily replied.
Gina sounded anxious. “The James Corporation is such a prestigiouspany, why did you resign just
like that? You should have discussed it with me at least. You''re being too impulsive! I''ve already
promised your aunt to help them. How do you expect me to respond now?"
Emily''s tone was cold, “I didn''t agree to anything, so why did you makemitments on my behalf?
Even if I hadn''t resigned, what if I couldn''t help him get the job? Have you thought about that?"
Gina was taken aback by Emily''s words. She sighed, “Emily, I''ve noticed you''ve been bing more
and more temperamental. You''re not as warm as before when you talk to me. I understand that there
are many thing you don''t agree with when ites to me, and I don''t me you for it. But we are still
farnily. You can''t just consider yourself in everything; you should think about your brother and sister-in-
Emily frowned, “How is my resignation rted to my brother?"
“Of course, it rted. Your brother is about to be promoted; this is a crucial time for him. If people in the
subsidiary find out about your resignation, will they still support your brother?” Gina scolded her. “You
should have at least informed us about your resignation and gave your brother some warning."
Emily felt a chill in her heart, "I''ve looked out for you all, but have any one of you ever looked out for
me?"
Gina was taken aback, “How can you say that? Your brother has always cared for you since you were
a child, don''t you know that? Emily, ever since you came back from abroad, you''ve be as cold and
selfish as those foreigners. Just think about it. How long has it been since you visited me. If I didn''t
have something to discuss with you, would you have ever called to check on me?"
Emily scoffed, “So you know that you only call when you need something. If you didn’t have an issue,
would you made this call?"
Gina retorted coldly, “I don''t want to argue about this. If you keep acting like this, don''t me me and
your brother for not caring about you in the future!"
Emily was disappointed, “I never expected anything from you."
“Your father ruined my life, and I worked tirelessly to raise and educate you and your brother. Is this
how you treat me? Fine, you''re grown up now, and you don''t need me anymore. I don’t need to rely on
you. I''ll consider I taised a thankless daughter!” Gina hung up the phone, visibly upset.
