Chapter 1694
Morrison wore an expression of helplessness. “It’s not like that. She came to see me and I wasn''t here.
She found the ne and thought it was pretty, so she took it. Sheter texted me about it on
WhatsApp."
"She came here looking for you?" A hint of severity shed in Magdalen''s eyes.
“She was preparing for the school anniversary performance and asked for my help in deciding which
song to sing, Morrison exined.
A sarcasticugh escaped Magdalen. “If things keep going this smoothly between you two, what''s
next?
Sneaking into bed while I''m not around?"
Morrison''s face darkened at Magdalen’s taunt, uttering ndly. ‘Magdalen, I''m not interested in Antonia
and I won''t betray you. You know this very well."
“You might not be interested in Antonia, but do you know she''s interested in you?” Magdalen
questioned.
Morrison hesitated before replying, "Yes, I know: “So what? You''re fully aware of her feelings, yet you
continue to indulge her. You let her take my ne, helped her choose songs, allowed her to use
your private suite. What are you trying to do? Does flirting with a young girl amuse you?"
Morrison''s expression turned solemn. “Magdalen, you know I''m not that kind of person. The Crawley
family asked me to look after Antonia, and I''ve been trying to maintain my distance!"
“This is your idea of maintaining distance? What would it look like if you weren''t?" Disappointment filled
Magdalen''s eyes as she looked at the man before her. "Forget it, I don''t want to argue with you. If you
want to rescue Antonia, go ahead. Don''t worry about me. But let me make this clear. If she dares to
mess with E, I won''t go easy on her!"
With that, Magdalen turned and walked away.
Morrison quickly followed, reaching out to grab her arm. "Magdalen!"
Magdalen swiftly sidestepped him, retreating several steps and ring at Morrison callously, "Don''t
make me despise you. I can love you with all my heart, but I can also break up with you in an instant.
And you''d better not pester me. You might not be able to handle me."
A cold look settled on Morrison''s handsome face. "You use me of having ambivalent attitude toward
Antonia. Do you even care? If Antonia hadn''t upset Estelle, would you have even noticed Antonia? Do

you care about me at all?"
Magdalen stared at Morrison, stunned. "Turns out we do have a lot of problems between us. I just didn''t
want to face them. We both haveints about each other, but we''ve stoppedmunicating.
We''re letting the gap between us grow."
Magdalen took a deep breath. “Maybe we should take a break and reconsider our rtionship."
“There''s no gap. We just love each other too much,’ Morrison argued.
“No!" Magdalen shook her head. Her mind was a whirl. She turned and headed downstairs.
Morrison followed her. "Where are you going?"
“Anywhere away from you!" Magdalen’s eyes were cold. Without looking back, she quickly descended
the stairs and left.
Morrison stood at the corner of the stairs, watching as Magdalen''s rose-colored skirt disappeared
through the door, the hem swishing with a swift elegance.
A servant approached, whispering, "Where did Miss Sampson go? She seemed really angry. Should
you go after her, Mr. Langston?"
Morrison rubbed his forehead, his voice low and somber. "No, let her cool off. She''lle back."
That night Estelle was downstairs, chatting with Emily. Jonathan was working in his study. After
reviewing a document, he received a call from Charlie James.
"You''ve caught the Crawley family''s daughter for what happened to Estelle?" Charlie asked directly.
Jonathan leaned back in his chair, looking out the window. His expression was as cool as an autumn
night.
"Yes."
"Do you need help?” Charlie asked.
“No."
Charlie continued, ‘The Crawley family only left politics for business during Cliff''s father''s generation.
But they''ve grown arrogant and unrefined, acting more and more like nouveau riche. Cliff is like this,
and so is the daughter he raised. Even the Crawley family doesn''t know how much of their wealth as
the richest family in B City is genuine. But sometimes, the actions of the nouveau riche can be
unpredictable. Even if you''re 100% certain, don''t let your guard down. I''m worried Cliff might hurt
Estelle. Estelle can handle herself, but the people around her can''t. That could be Estelle''s weakness."
Jonathan frowned slightly. "You''re beating around the bush. You just want my men to protect Emily and
Kya too, tight? Why not just say it?"
Charlie''s tone remained leisurely. “I''m just reminding you to be thorough."
Jonathan scoffed. "I dont recall you ever caring about me before."
