    Gavin chuckled, “You don’t know me well enough; I’m always attentive to beauties.”

    Maggie took a bite of her cookie, yfully joked, “Do you know what Tracy told me before she left?”


    “What did she say?” Gavin responded, cradling his cup of coffee, leaned against the bar counter and


    looked up.


    “Tracy told me that Mr. James likes Emily!” She widened her eyes, looking at Gavin with curiosity, “Mr.

    “Because, Gavin smirked, “Emily doesn’t gossip!”

    Gavin smiled enigmatically, “When you work with Mr. James, it’s better to speak less and do more,


    keep a low profile. Then, you’ll earn his favor. That’s my advice to you!”


    A touch of embarrassment flickered across Maggie’s face, but she quickly reced it with a sweet


    smile, reaching for the cheesecake on the table.


    Gavin stepped back a little, “I’m sorry, this one’s for Emily!”


    Maggie looked even more embarrassed. She gave a faint smile to Gavin, and left with her cookie.


    As Emily came over after finishing her work, Gavin handed her the cheesecake, saying, “Be careful


    around Maggie, she’s no pushover.”


    Emily justughed it off, not taking it too seriously.


    At the end of the workday, Emily had some documents that needed Charlie’s signature. Maggie walked


    by and asked her, “Looking for Mr. James? I need to see him too, I can help you get the signatures!”


    “Sure, thank you!” Emily handed her the documents.

    Maggie walked to the CEO’s office with those documents.


    She knocked on the door and entered. Charlie was immersed in reading documents. She called out


    gently and respectfully. “Mr. James!”


    Charlie nced at her and spoke, “Are you stillfortable working here?”


    Maggie nodded immediately, “Yes, I am. Everyone’s been really kind, especially Emily. She’s been


    showing me the ropes.”


    She paused, then continued in a lower voice, “Emily seems to be getting along well with Mr. Gavin,”


    Charlie’s gaze turned chilly, “Focus on your own work. Don’t concern yourself with things that aren’t


    your business.”


    “I understand” Maggie replied nervously, and handed the documents to Charlie for his approval.


    Charlie reviewed the two documents. His eyebrows furrowed, asking, “Isn’t this Emily’s responsibility?”


    Maggie hurriedly exined, “Yes. Emily asked me to bring them to you for your signature.”


    Charlie’s grip on his pen tightened, and his expression grew even more distant. He didn’t say anything,


    just quickly signed the documents.

    On the day before the long weekend for Thanksgiving, Emily handed in her resignation letter to Charlie
