    As soon as Kya saw Charlie, she bolted towards him,pletely ecstatic.


    Charlie bent down to lift her up, his eyes full of delight. He nted a kiss on her forehead and asked,


    "Did you miss me?"


    "Yes!" Kya''s face lit up with pure joy as she tightly held on to Charlie''s neck.


    Watching the affectionate father-daughter duo, Emily had her mind preupied with what she had


    overheard upstairs. She didn''t intervene in their sweet interaction because she knew they might soon


    be separated.


    Charlie looked at Emily, his eyes deep and thoughtful. "I noticed you guys were here when | saw


    Estelle. Why don''t you go chat with her and let Kya hang out with me?"


    "No need. Josiah is your cousin and it''s his engagement today. You must be busy too. Kya can stay


    with me. She''s a good girl Emily replied nonchntly.


    "All the tasks that needed to be done are over. Kya''s staying with me. You dont have to worry about it,’


    Charlie insisted, turning around with Kya in his arms and walking away.


    Emily watched as Kya, perched on Charlie''s shoulder, beamed at her. It seemed Kya was thoroughly


    enjoying the tall man’s broad shoulders, finally not having to follow others around but instead having a


    chance to look down on them.


    Charlie didn''t give Emily a chance to respond. Being tall with long strides, he quickly disappeared from


    sight.


    Emily watched their receding figures before heading towards Amiee''s private lounge.


    Charlie first took Kya for some food, then they yed in the hotel''s children''s y area for a bit. Seeing


    her getting tired, he took her upstairs for a nap.

    Charlie entered, settling down on the balcony''s couch with Kya in his arms.


    Basking in the sun, Kya rested her head on hisp and quickly fell asleep.


    Charlie found that Kya seemed veryfortable around him. Even in unfamiliar surroundings and


    among strangers, she slept soundly.


    Josiah brought over a thin nket and chuckled, "Do you need a separate room for her to rest?"


    "No need; Charlie took the nket and carefully draped it over Kya, “Let her nap for a bit. If she sleeps


    too much, she won''t want to sleep at night. It''ll mess up her internal clock."


    Josiah sat across them. He looked at the sleeping Kya and asked, "Have you fully embraced Kya as


    your daughter?"


    Charlie''s face softened, "I just really want to care for her."


    "Because of Emily?" Josiah queried, raising an eyebrow.


    "| don''t know, maybe,’ Charlie replied casually.


    "Does your mom know about you and Emily?" Josiah asked.


    Charlie''s voice was low, "I don''t know, and | don''t n on telling her anytime soon."


    "Why not?" Josiah frowned, "Aren''t you serious about Emily?"


    Charlie shook his head, quietly saying, "Emily isn''t very sure about our rtionship. It''s not safe to


    introduce her to my parents now. If my mom disapproves, Emily will definitely leave me."


    He hadn''t sought Emily outtely, but he had been doing a lot of thinking. He was very sure that his


    feelings for Emily weren''t just a fleeting fascination or a yful fling. He wanted a stable rtionship


    with her and wanted it tost. But he didn''t really know Emily''s true intentions.


    So, it wasn''t the right time to introduce her to his parents.


    Josiah nodded in understanding, "Emily''s a good girl. If you''re serious, don''t be irresponsible towards


    her.’


    Charlie scoffed, "Do | really need you to tell me how to date?"


    "Do your previous flings even count as ‘dating''?" Josiah retorted disdainfully.


    "Shut up. You''re going to wake Kya!" Charlie snapped.


    "What''s so great about you!" Josiah shot back, smirking. But his eyes betrayed jealousy when he


    looked at Kya, "I''m getting married to Amiee by the end of the year and we''ll have a baby next year!"


    Charlie retorted, "Then you still have to wait another year!"


    "What''s wrong with waiting a year? The baby Amiee will have is mine. | don''t have to worry about the


    mother of my child leaving me with the baby;’ Josiah fired back.


    Charlie''s face darkened instantly. Fuming, he spat, "Get out! If you utter another word, I''ll make sure


    your engagement party doesn''t happen!"


    Josiah left with a provocative smile.


    Charlie watched him leave, his face a mask of anger. Holding Kya


    tightly, he thought, ‘Let''s see who dares to take Kya away from me!"
