Chapter 1328
Jonathan whipped up four dishes with the limited ingredients they had. The wine Charlie brought over
Throughout dinner, Charlie was all over kya-patient and attentive-and Kya seemed to rely on him.
Suddenly, Estelle had this feeling that Charlie was turning into quite the dad. Unknowingly, he was
providing Kya with some fatherly love.
After dinner, Jonathan and Charlie had a chat while Estelle and Emily listened to the sound of rain on
the balcony.
Night rain in J City always had a way to calm the soul.
Charlie suddenly popped the question, “Do we have any ying cards? Let’s have a game”
Emily replied, “There’s a deck left by previous tenants. Never bothered to throw them out.”
“Great, fetch them! Let’s y some poker!” Charlieughed.
Emily went to the cab, opened the drawer, and took out the deck of cards..
They all returned to the living room and sat around the table. “What are we ying?” Charlie asked.
Jonathan suggested, “We can y Bridge with four yers!”
“Bridge it is, it’s simpler” Charlie shuffled the cards, ced them on the table, and said with a smile, Til
team up with Emily, and you guys be a team. Let’s roll!”
The adorable Kya asked, “Who am I teaming up with?”
Everyoneughed at her innocent tone.
Charlie held Kya in his arms and softly said, “Kya, you’re with me, okay?”
“Okay!” Kya happily agreed.
Emily mumbled, “I don’t know how to y: I’ll be winging it. Don’t me me if I slow us down!”
“No worries,” Charlieughed, “they’ve got a rookie too.”
Estelle knew he was referring to her.
Every time they yed cards at gatherings, without Jonathan guiding her she would be the one losing
the most.
She didn’t know why she was always bad at card games, or any games, to be honest
Could it be that her training from childhood hindered her progress in these intellectual activities?
N?velDrama.Org owns ? this.
Seeing Estelle’s troubled expression, Jonathan rubbed her head tofort her, saying, “Don’t worry,
I’ve got your back! You won’t lose!”
Charlieughed, “Don’t be too sure! Let’s set the stakes for winning or losing now.”
Estelle raised an eyebrow. “Are we doing turtle stamps?”
Emily shook her head “No turtles; we can just draw with a pen.”
“Let’s just drink, loser drinks, truth or dare, whatever works!” Jonathan suggested.
“Deal!” Charlie readily agreed.
With the rules set, they started dealing the cards.
In the first round, Jonathan had a great hand, and Charlie was helpless.
In the end, Jonathan and Estelle won
Charlie was not one to back down, he poured a drink and downed it in one gulp.
The second round was a close match. Halfway through, Estelle was losing, but Emily hesitated and
gave them a chance. Charlie’s face changed as he knew Jonathan was about to y a great hand,
reversing the situation.
Charlie clenched his teeth. “Emily, are you a spy sent by Estelle?”
Emily seemed frustrated too. “Why does Jonathan still have good cards? I thought I counted them all.”
“Stop counting the cards, will you? You didn’t even notice Estelle’s trick, and you’re counting cards!”
Charlieughed out of frustration.
Estelle and Jonathan exchanged looks, trying to suppress theirughter.
In the end, Charlie and Emily lost again When Emily saw Charlie preparing to pour the drink, she
quickly said, “I lost the game, I’ll drink!”
Charlie scoffed, but his eyes were soft. “You just keep losing. I’ll take the hit!”
Saying that, he drank the liquor in one gulp.
Emily’s ears turned hot, and she felt a mix of emotions.
So, in the following rounds, Emily paid full attention to the game. Thankfully, she and Charlie gradually
found their rhythm, and the game started to even out. Kya sat on Charlie’sp, looking at his cards.
She pointed at one and asked, “What’s this?”
Charlie replied, “This is a K.”
