    Chapter 1201

Charlie gave a slight nod, then marched off into his office.

As he stepped in, his eyes swept over the

woman sitting on the sofa. Her face was gentle, but there was a cold aloofness about her. “Ms. Waters,

what brings you here?” he asked.

Waters looked at him with a soft gaze. “It’s been a while since west met; didn’t you miss

    me even a little bit?”

Charlie took off his suit jacket

and draped it over the leather chair. He lit up a cigarette. The smoke blurred the coldness in his eyes. “

Waters, we’re adults; no need to y these head games. I don’t like you, and there’s no point in you wa

    sting your time on me.”

A shadow of deep pain crossed Waters‘ eyes. She chuckled softly. “So, is there anyone that

    you do like?”

Charlie paused, knocked off some ash, and looked down. “No.”

“Then I still have a chance!” Watersughed softly, but her determination was unmistakable.

Charlie chuckled. “You know me, if I liked a woman even a little bit, I’d give it a go. I’ve been rejecting y

ou for two years; you should take the hint.”

Waters raised an eyebrow. “But you haven’t had any other women in your life in the past two years, hav

    e you?”

Charlie seemed a bit irritated. “You’re smart; don’t you know that being too clingy is a turn–

off and it only makes you look desperate?”

“I don’t care if you’re annoyed; I just fear you ignoring me!” Waters boldly sat on

the giant mahogany desk, leaning forward with her alluring gaze fixed on the man.

Charlieughed. “How do you think you look?”

Waters spun her eyes around, confident, “Absolutely perfect!”

Charlie replied, “Yes, perfect; very attractive to men, but I’m not interested

at all. Isn’t that ignoring you?”

    The color

drained from Waters‘ face. She was about to say something when there was a knock at the door.

    “Come in!” Charlie called.

Tracy came in with a stack of reports, smiled at Waters, then turned to Charlie and said, “Mr. James, he

re are the reports you asked for. They’re all sorted out.”

Waters slid off the desk and sat in the chair opposite, flicking her long hair and smiling at Charlie.

Charlie didn’t look at her; he

took the reports and flipped through them, then asked casually, “Did you do these?”

Tracy paused for a moment, then quickly answered, “Yes.”

“Good job!” Charlie gave a small smile, but his tone became colder: “You had time to have tea and chat

with Ms. Waters and still managed to get the reports done. You’re more efficient than even me!”

    Tracy’s face went white.

Charlie looked up at her, his gaze sharp. “Who really did these reports?”

    This belongs to N?velDrama.Org - ?.

Tracy trembled; she didn’t dare lie, “It was Emily!”

Charlie scoffed, “Tracy, you’re really good at climbing over your colleagues to get ahead.”

Tracy quickly responded, “Mr. James, I apologize. I won’t do it again!”

Charlie’s voice was chillingly cold: “You haven’t improved your skills, but you’re good at brown–

nosing. If you like Ms. Waters so much, why don’t you go work for herpany?”

    Charlie didn’t lose

his temper openly, but both Tracy and Waters could tell he was angry. Tracy kept apologizing.

Waters looked thoughtful, then chuckled, “It’s not that serious, is it? Tracy and I are good friends; we ju

st chatted a bit since we haven’t seen each other for a while. Why are you getting upset for no reason?”

“So my office has be your tea party and

gossip corner, has it?” Charlie’s face was devoid of any smile. “I’m paying her to work, not to socialize.

Why would I need an employee like that?”

Charlie’s words stung both Tracy and Waters.

Waters‘ face had changed; she stood up and said, “Charlie, you’re not criticizing

    her, you’re criticizing me!”

Charlie remained expressionless. “You brought this on yourself!”
