    Chapter 559

Magdalen brought over a massive portion of meat, proudly cing it on the table ‘I sliced it up myself

    big in, everyone!

Estelle put a te of fruit on the table. Seeing Jonathan nce over, she paused and exined, ‘t, um,

arranged the fruit on the te!”

The whole table erupted inughter. The aroma of the barbecued meat filled the air, templing

    everyone’s taste buds

Jonathan received a call and took a look before picking up

    Copyright N?v/el/Dra/ma.Org.

It was the chief of the local police station near the Movie Center. As soon as he opened his mouth, he

sounded genuinely apologetic. “Mr. Lamont, I’m so sorry. I had no idea about what happened today, let

alone that you’d opened a restaurant around here. Is it part of a chain?”

“It’s owned by a friend of mine, Jonathan replied nonchntly.

“Ah, well, no difference the chiefughed Tve already looked into the incident, and it was Marcus and

Maxwell who started the trouble I’ve given them a good dressing down, and I assure you, they won’t

dare do it again! Please ask your friend to calcte the losses for today, and Marcus and his crew will

    make amends afterward”

“Mm-hm” Jonathan responded Tll have someone from the restaurant get in touch with you soon. Also,

my friend’s restaurant has only just opened and it’s your territory, so I hope you can look out for them in

    the future, Mr. Peery!

“Of course, of course! No need for such formalities. Rest assured, nothing like this will ever happen

    again!

    “Great”

Jonathan hung up and gave Mr. Peery’s phone number to Damian.

Upon hearing that Marcus and his gang wouldpensate them, Damian couldn’t believe it at first. But

once he’d wrapped his head around it, he realized it was all thanks to Jonathan’s connections.

He went into the kitchen where Xavier was cutting up meat. Though Xavier was an amateur, he was

pretty handy with a knife, slicing each piece of meat to the exact same size.

Puzzled, Damian approached him “Sir, I don’t get it!

“What don’t you get?” Xavier asked absentmindedly as he continued cutting.

Furrowing his brow, Damian ted some more meat. “You said that the Lamont family, despite being

wealthy, are just businessmen. So why are the police so afraid of them?”

Xavier gave Damian a nce and quietly asked, “Do you know what the Lamont family does for a

    living?”

Shaking his head, Damian admitted he didn’t know.

Annoyed with how careless Damian’s ting looked, Xavier rearranged it before continuing “Never

mind what the Lamont family does. Just take Jonathan, for example. Do you know how many people in

J City have made their way out because of his support? And do you know what percentage of J City’s

GDP is generated by the Lamont Group? Even the city’s highest-ranking official has to show the

    Lamont family some respect!”

Damian’s eyes widened. “Are they really that powerful?”

Xavier picked up a cucumber and gave Damian a light tap on the head, before taking a bite. “Get back

    to work” he said.

“Right!” Damian nodded, still dazed. He remembered hearing that over half of J City’s docks were

owned by the Lamont Group. It hadn’t meant much to him back then, but now he realized just how

powerful the Lamont Group was in J City!

Upon further thought, he felt a surge of pride knowing that the president of the Lamont Group was

dining at their restaurant and threw himself into work with renewed vigor.

Estelle and the others enjoyed themselves greatly during the meal, whichsted for nearly an hour.

Jonathan and Morrison chatted about business matters, while Estelle and Magdalen found no shortage

of topics. The atmosphere was light and enjoyable.

The taste of the barbecue was a big factor, too!

Having learned that Zachary was a chef, Estelle had assumed that, even if he had any culinary skills,

he’d be no more than a

beginner. To her surprise, he was a pro.

His seasoning was the best she’d ever tasted!

Plus, Xavier’s crew was a down-to-earth bunch who didn’t resort to cutting corners like many

experienced businessmen. They only sourced the freshest, highest quality ingredients. So not only did

Estelle and her group enjoy the meal, but other customers who were leaving the restaurant after having

their meal also found it to their liking and resolved toe back

    again.
