    Before leaving Dr. Martin reminded Charlie about how to take the medicine and remove the IV needle,


    and Charlie kept all of it in mind.


    The room was quiet again. Charlie sat by the bed, covering Emily with a nket. She was sleeping


    deeply, her long eyshes casting a calm shadow on her face


    So quiet, it was almost unnerving


    Charlie waited for the IV drip to finish, then sat on the nearby sofa to rest his eyes.


    He felt like he had just closed his eyes when he heard some movement on the bed. He slowly opened


    his eyes, and there was a moment of grogginess, which then turned into surprise.


    Emily’s fever started to subside after getting the IV, and she was sweating heavily. She was cozily


    tucked in by Charlie and must have been ufortable, so she squirmed a bit and then just lifted her


    hand and removed the nket.


    She wasn’t wearing anything and was not fully conscious. With her eyes closed, she groaned in


    difort.


    Charlie took a deep breath, stood up, and held her shoulder, fearing her movements might dislodge the

    nket. Then he went to the bathroom to fetch a warm towel.

    He covered her again, and with the towel, reached under the nket to help her wipe off the sweat.

    Charlie hesitated, wondering if he should call Estelle toe downstairs and take care of Emily.


    He checked the time – it was already 2:30 in the morning. Calling Estelle at this time would probably
