Chapter 52
Simane forcefully removed the ne from her neck and flung it onto the coffee table, her teeth
clenched tightly. “She imed to have bought this ne and said she knows Harriet from GK
Jewelry studio. But today, in front of everyone, it was revealed as a lie! I have been utterly humiliated
because of her!”
Bet frowned at the diamond ne on the table, “Wasn’t this a gift from Carme on your
birthday?”
Simone pointed at Carme, “You ask her!”
Carme sobbed uncontrobly, her voice choked with emotion as she wiped her tear-streaked face.
With blurry eyes, she looked at Simone and pleaded, “I’m so sorry, Mom, I’m so sorry!”
Bet frowned, “What’s going on?”
Carme choked, “The ne was… was from Estelle!
Bet and Simone were both stunned, “Estelle?”
Belonging to N?velDrama.Org.
No wonder Harriet said the person who ordered the ne had the samest name-it was Estelle!
Bet’s expression darkened as he confronted Carme. “Carme, this is where you went wrong. If
the ne was given by your sister, why did you im it was from you?”
Carme was crying so hard she couldn’t catch her breath, “I wasn’t being vain or trying to deceive
you. I was just scared! I was afraid that if Mom saw the beautiful ne from my sister, she wouldn’t
like my gift. I was even more afraid that you wouldn’t love me or want me anymore!”
“Dad, Mom, I’m really so scared of losing you!”
She squatted down, crying her heart out as if she had been suppressing and holding back her feelings
for a long time, and finally let it all out today.
Despite Simone’s lingering anger over Carme’s lies, a sudden realization struck her. She understood
that Carme had been living with a sense of insecurity and caution ever since Estelle’s return and
eptance into their lives. The anger within Simone dissipated, making room for heartache and
Simone approached Carme and enveloped her in a tender hug, whispering softly, “You silly girl, how
could I not love you? Estelle is our daughter, and so are you!”
Carme clung to Simone tightly, her tears flowing uncontrobly. “Mom, I’m truly sorry! I lied and
brought you. embarrassment. When I be sessful in the future, I promise to buy you the most
exquisite ne as a token of my love and gratitude.”
“I’m not as good as Estelle, not as good as her at making money. Do you still like me?”
Simone hurried to reassure her, “Of course I like you. You’re my baby. Don’t ever say such silly things
again.”
“Mom, I’ll never lie to you again. Can you forgive me?” Carme buried herself in Simone’s arms.
The mother and daughter knelt on the carpet like that, holding each other and crying, forting each
other for quite a while.
Watching the close rtionship between them on the floor, Bet’s heart wasforted, but
somehow, he felt something was wrong.
What was it?
It took a full hour for Simone to console Carme, soothing her until her tears subsided. Afterward,
Simone gently guided Carme back to her room, advising her to take some time to rest and
recuperate.
When she came out, Simone’s eyes were still swollen. Addy gave her a cold towel to put on them.
“I didn’t know Carme had been bottling up so much!” Simone said, tears falling again..
Bet gave her some water andforted her for a bit. Thinking of Estelle, he whispered, “We owe
Estelle

too.”
However, Simone suddenly remembered what Carme said about not being able to make money like
Estelle…
Yeah, the limited-edition ne from GK Jewelry studio was so expensive, a whole set costing at
least a million. Where did Estelle get that much money?
Her heart sank, and anxiety gripped Carme as she questioned with apprehension, “Where has
Estelle been residing for the past two years? What has she been up to? She hasn’t been involved in
anything questionable, has she?!”
Bet was taken aback by her words, his expression turning somber. “What are you talking about?”
he asked, his toneced with concern.
“Then how could she afford to buy a ne from GK Jewelry studio?” Simone demanded.
Bet originally nned to tell the truth, but thinking about the broken engagement with the Lamont
family and the need to exin further, he decided to hide the whole thing and simply said, “I gave
Estelle the money.”
