Chapter 139 Examination
Aleshia pretended to examine the nearly unconscious bodies, aware that Daniel was watching her. She placed her hand on the foreheads of several sickly individuals, feeling their temperatures fluctuate wildly. It struck her as strange, but unable to fully comprehend it, she stopped pretending and began a genuine examination.
As she examined more and more bodies, she began to notice a pattern. Many of them were close to or on the verge of death, yet strangely, none of them seemed as though they were going to die. While she could attribute this to their strong will to live or similar factors, it did not fully explain the situation.
Remembering Daniel''s mention of the curses that plagued them, she concluded that the nobles were keeping them alive solely to make them suffer and to serve as a grim warning to other residents in the slums against trying to rise above their station.

Until Lucia delivered her verdict, Aleshia couldn''t give her judgment to Daniel on them. She continued to examine their bodies for abnormalities until, after a while, Lucia finally spoke her judgment.
"If we obtain medicines from a local herbalist in another district, they can help combat the poisons. Unless we lift the curses, their poisons may return, possibly even more potent than before. If I try to assist in their recovery, as I did with the others here, they would likely die because they lack the resources to support their bodies during such an intense recovery process.
Based on my observations, several curses are affecting their bodies, in addition to the one that alerts the nobles, as Daniel mentioned. We can use Kailey''s knowledge to dispel the other curses, but we should refrain from dispelling the curse that alerts the nobles. Additionally, there appear to be several smaller curses intertwined with the main one, which amplify the effects of the poisons within their systems.
If I can remove the minor curses, it will aid in recovery without alerting the nobles, which would be beneficial. Please inform Daniel about this."
After receiving Lucia''s assessment, Aleshia stood up and approached Daniel. He looked concerned but patiently waited for her to speak.
With a tone filled with determination, Aleshia spoke carefully. "I can cure the poison affecting them, but unless I break the curses afflicting them, my healing could lead to their deaths. There seem to be more curses, but to my knowledge, dispelling them won''t alert the nobles. I wish to do that, so I ask for your permission.
