    I stood at the doorway, watching Mack, his face ashen and tense, his hands, hanging by his sides, clenched into fists.

    Watching this scene unfold, my heart tightened inexplicably, and I instinctively wanted to step in and mediate.


    But before I could, a middle-aged man intervened, pulling the woman away, "Stop this, let''s allow Judie some peace in her final moments." "Judie, my Judie..." The woman''s cries grew louder.
