Chapter 945 Cordelia And Her Insecurity
What the…
Emrys felt a flutter of unease stir within him. Were it not for his familiarity with Cordelia’s character, he
might have mistaken her actions for a deliberate attempt at seduction.
Suppressing his difort, Emrys inquired, “Delia, can I help you?”
“Must there be a reason for me toe talk to you? When did we be so distant?” Cordelia’s tone
carried a trace of hurt as she gracefully settled beside Emrys. Her presence enveloped him,
apanied by the subtle fragrance of her hair.
Emrys expression stiffened, his gaze i
upon Cordelia in astonishment.
She was normally aloof andposed, but today she seemed different–her facial expressions and the
undertones of resentment in her voice rang with an unusual. pretentiousness. Something was definitely
awry.
Conscious of the need to remainposed. Emrys fought to rein in his wandering thoughts. Delia must
be setting yet another trap for me. She’s waiting for me to take the bait only for her to give my ear a
twist as punishment. There’s no way I’d fall for that!
“Rys, as you know, I’ve always had feelings for you. It’s just that… there was a barrier in my heart
before, something I couldn’t surmount. But now, I’ve made up my mind. I want to be yours in this
lifetime. So, I offer myself to you today. Will you ept?”
Cordelia’s soft voice hung in the air, apanied by a blush that painted her cheeks a delicate shade
of pink. Her bashfulness was evident in the subtle tilt of her head and her downward gaze.
Emrys stood in stunned silence, his mind reeling with uncertainty.
Is she putting on an act? Or is she for real? I can’t tell
anymore.
Noticing Emrys‘ indifference, Cordelia seemed crestfallen. “Rys, do you think I’m not good enough for
you? Do you think I’m a hypocrite for pretending to be reserved in the past?”
Emrys eximed in shock, “How can you think that, Delia? Why would such doubts even cross your
mind?”
His shock only deepened as he scrutinized Cordelia’s demeanor.
Today, she seemed to defy her usualposed facade, her emotionsid bare in a raw disy. The
authenticity of her feelings shed starkly with her customary poise.

He’s right. Why would I have such doubts?
In the past, she hadmanded respect and authority among her sisters.
None dared to challenge her authority, not even Emrys.
Whenever her brows furrowed, even the mighty Empyrean Lord would shrink into submission,
resembling nothing more than a helpless little boy.
Why did I say something like that?
Cordelia drew in a deep breath. “If you don’t think I’m not good enough for you, then why won’t you… Is
it because I hold the least significance to you among all seven of us?”
Emrys shook his head vehemently, exining. “No, Delia, that’s not it at all… You understand the
challenges I face with my cultivation. If my vital energy were to diminish without good reason, all my
efforts would be for naught. How could I fulfill my duty to protect you all in the future?”
Emrys was agitated and annoyed.
“Oh. I see.”
Cordelia nodded, but the disappointment in her gaze only intensified, casting a shadow over her
features.
“Then, I’ll leave you be. Get some rest. I apologize for disturbing you,” Cordelia murmured as she rose
from her seat in dejection. With a heavy heart, she made her way toward the door.
Just as she reached the door, she halted abruptly, her voice tinged with a hint of resentment. “And what
about Karina?”
Emrys‘ expression faltered.
She pressed on sorrowfully, “In truth, Caylie has already confided in me about your rtionship with
Karina. I couldn’t help but wonder, when were you nning to tell me?”
A deafening silence filled the room as the weight of Cordelia’s words settled upon Emrys.
Realization struck him like a bolt from the blue. Cordelia had been aware of his involvement with Karina
all along and that the supposed cultivation obstacles he faced were non–existent.
Ironically, he used this very excuse to reject her. In his attempt to shield her from hurt, he had
inadvertently inflicted a deeper wound. Emrys‘ heart sank, for he had unwittingly conveyed to Cordelia
a false impression of her significance in his heart.
