Chapter 153
Chapter 153
“Keep dreaming, Rufus!” Diane replied coldly as soon as she heard that.
Manuel’splexion turned ugly in an instant, and he said to Diane, “Why would you say that, Diane?
We are a second-tier family. You’ll be one step up the social hierarchy if you marry my son. You
should’ve been grateful that he still fancies you even though you’ve been married once and had
already given birth to a child. Where did you get the nerve to say tell my son to keep dreaming
??“

After making that remark, Manuel turned his head to Rufus and said, “You’re a disappointment, Rufus.
You could’ve chosen any woman in the world, and you just had to choose her. You’re my son, after all.
Don’t you have hordes of women to choose from?”
Rufus pouted. “But Dad! The woman I truly like is Diane! It just has to be her!”
Catherine thought for a while before taking a step forward and saying to Manuel, “Severin did beat your
son up today, but I trust that Severin wouldn’t’ve gone so far as to hit him if your son didn’t cross the
line!” She then paused briefly before continuing. “Your son is alive and well. He doesn’t seem to be
seriously injured. On that note, we can’t let you go off empty-handed either. How about you give us a
number, and we’ll reimburse you with some money for you to use on your son’s recuperation?”
“Grandma…you…” Stanley nearly fainted when he heard that. Diane, Judith and everyone else was
overjoyed. As long as the olddy was willing to stand up for Severin, then things would not turn out so
bad after all. Rufus was not seriously injured anyway, and Severin did make a point to hold
back when he retaliated.
“Money? That’s interesting!” Manuelughed. ‘My son was beaten and you’re here talking about
money?’ He gestured with his hand and said, “Fair enough. Let’s make it fifteen million!”
“Fifteen million!” Judith nearly fainted when she heard how much Manuel was demanding.
“Fifteen million!” Other members of the Shanahan family gasped too because they did not expect that
Manuel would name fifteen million as his price.
Catherine’s mouth twitched slightly and then she looked at Manuel. “This is excessive, don’t you think?
You’re demanding fifteen million? It’s not that easy for even a third-tier family to get that kind of money!”
Manuel, however, ughed. “Haha! We don’tck money, Catherine. A couple of million is peanuts to
us. My son spends several million monthly, sometimes even up to ten million. Is fifteen million a lot to
you? Well, you only have yourself to me. You’re the one who willingly asked me to raise the price!”
He then paused briefly before continuing, “If you’re reluctant to fork out that money, you can always let
us take Severin away with us. That’ll be problem solved! Honestly, if I had such a useless son-inw
like you, I’d just let him be taken away. Think about it, he wouldn’t have gone to jail if he was good for
anything. Why bother going to such lengths to protect a son-inw like him?”
“Grandma,” Stanley began to protest. “That’s too much money. If we spend all that at once, there will
be problems with thepany’s turnover! Just let them take him away, Grandma. They’ll probably
spare his life since he’s the Shanahans’ son-inw. The most they’ll do is probably break.
one of his limbs. That’s not so bad, is it]?”
Maryam also folded her arms over her chest and said, “His life is not worth fifteen million!”
“We’ll give the money!” She finally decided to take a gamble after thinking about it for a long time. As
long as Severin was able to help their family secure the Liberty City project, then the Shanahans ‘future
would look very positive, considering that the value behind the project was worth more than fifteen
million. In light of that, she decided to hedge all her bets on Severin.
Though it might take some effort, the Shanahans did have the financial ability toe up with fifteen
million.
Severin, who was standing on one side, remained silent throughout the situation. He wanted to see the
olddy’s stance, and whether she would help him or feed him to the dogs. Her eventual decision
satisfied him greatly.
“Haha, that’s mighty generous of you, Catherine!” Manuel was stunned for a moment before joy began
to creep in. Fifteen million was no small amount, and he was surprised that he could get such arge
amount of money from the Shanahans.
Severin came forth and said, “You don’t need to do that, Grandma. Like I said, I should be solely
responsible for this!”
