Chapter 1915
She couldn''t count the number of times she''d kicked herself for being so superficial, falling for ric, the ultimate yer. Her past obsession with him was a source of never-ending frustration.
Seeing that Hertha was seriously fed up, ric raised his hands in surrender. "Okay, okay, I''ll stop. Happy now?"
Hertha rolled her eyes at him and headed for the kitchen. ric noticed the grocery bag she was carrying and followed her, asking casually, "Do you even know how to cook?"
"That mouth of yours isn''t just for offending people, you know," Hertha shot back without turning around.
"Did I say something wrong?" ric followed her, only to have the ss door mmed shut in his face, nearly squashing his nose.
ric couldn''t help butugh. "Hertha, I''m a patient here!"
Hertha looked at him disdainfully through the ss. "If you weren''t sick, I wouldn''t bothering!"
"Can''t you be a little nicer? Do you treat the kids at home like this too?" ric said.
"The kids are a thousand times cuter than you. Just one look from them can melt my heart. If I were a block of ice, I''d turn into a warm puddle around them, unlike you!" Hertha rolled her eyes at him again.
"And what''s so bad about me?" ric persisted.
"You''re just annoying!" Hertha said bluntly.
"Hey, you..." ric felt wounded by her ring disdain, ready to argue.
But then he saw Hertha had turned her back on him and was already getting started with the food. ric decided to swallow his words.
Opening the ss door, he stepped in, offering, "I''ll help out."
"Wow, the privileged lord is offering to get his hands dirty? Impressive," Herthamented.
ric felt a bit cheered by her rarepliment. "Of course, you''ve yet to discover all my hidden talents," ric said, moving to the stove to take some vegetables from Bertha and started to prepare them.
"Hey, why are you throwing away the stems and keeping the leaves?" Hertha didn''t pay attention for a moment and saw ric discarding the stems of the cress into the trash while keeping the leaves.
"Isn''t it the leaves we eat?" ric looked confused.
"Just when I thought you were doing okay, you go and reveal your true colors as a spoiled brat. Who ever heard of eating cress leaves and not the stems?" Hertha was incredulous.
ric was at a loss for words.Content (C) N?v/elDra/ma.Org.
"I knew you wouldn''t be of any help. Just get out, before you waste what little food we have," Hertha pushed ric out of the kitchen.
"Hey, why do these greens smell like
medicine? Is this even edible?" ric
sniffed his hands, which had a strange aroma, reminiscent of the
bitter medicine he''d been forced to
drink.
"Cress is one of the finest ingredients out there. What, you''re worried I''m trying to poison you?" Hertha retorted.
"I''m a patient, remember? Should I even be eating this?" ric was doubtful.
"Stop ying the patient card as if you''re on your deathbed," Hertha said sharply.
"Hertha, you''re cursing me now," ric protested, not pleased.
"What''s the matter, upset that I''m sending you away?" Hertha scoffed.
