Chapter 1500

    Chapter 1500

The car pulled up just outside the gates of Star Harbor Estates, and before they could enter,

    Thssa told Callum to stop.

"Thanks for the ride. This is fine," Thssa pushed the car door open and stepped out.

Her spirits were low because she was still enveloped in the sorrow of Leopold''s reason for his

    passing.

With a quick thanks, Thssa walked towards the vi area, her soul seemingly detached from her

    body.

Suddenly, a figure burst from behind a trash can, her hair wild and her appearance eerily unnerving.

She dashed to Thssa''s side, grabbing her shoulder and shing a small knife, its de gleaming

    dangerously close to Thssa''s neck.

Her series of movements were finished in an instant, leaving no chance for Thssa to react.

By the time Thssa realized what was happening, the cold metal of the de was pressed against

her neck, a slight push away from cutting through her skin.

Fear reced Thssa''s mncholy in an instant as she clearly felt the cold touch of metal

pressing against the skin of her neck.

"Who are you? What do you want?" Thssa asked with panic in her voice.

"Thssa, you wretch, it’s been three years and why you are still not dead yet? It''s all because of

you that I lost my parents and ended up homeless! You wouldn’t let me go even when I was on the

streets, trying to take away the fifty thousand dors that was almost in my grasp!" The woman

holding Thssa''s shoulder spat out with venom, her breath heavy and her knife-wielding hand

    trembling with rage.

Thssa''s heart skipped a beat, suddenly recognizing the voice that sent shockwaves through her

    mind—it was Susan!

She was the beggar who threw herself in front of Rosalind''s car, attempting a scam for fifty

    thousand dors just moments earlier.

Susan had literally be a beggar!

Overwhelmed, Susan inadvertently applied too much pressure, and the de nicked Thssa''s

neck, sending a sharp pain coursing through her.

Thssa was so nervous that her body tensed, leaning back to distance herself from the de.

She hastily said, "Susan, calm down, let me go, and I''ll give you the fifty thousand dors right now."

"Thssa!" At that moment, Callum pushed his car door open and rushed forward, calling out

    nervously.

From the car, he had seen someone lunge from behind the trash can and grab Thssa. He

wanted to intervene, but the attacker was too fast. Just as he realized Thssa was in danger, the

knife was already at her neck.

By the time Callum could react, the situation had escted.

"Don''te any closer, or I''ll kill her!" Susan became crazier. She had one hand in a death grip on

Thssa''s arm and one across Thssa''s neck, holding a knife to her throat.

Should her emotions get the best of her, a mere flick of her wrist could slit Thssa''s throat.

Thssa''s heart raced, her nerves on edge.

Realizing his approach might worsen the situation, Callum abruptly stopped, raised his hands in

surrender, and started to negotiate with Susan. His voice was heavy with concern, "Just calm down,

let her go, and I''ll give you a hundred thousand dors."

Susan paused, then burst into maniacalughter, filling the air with an echo. It was unusually

    ghastly.

"So, her life is worth that much, huh? You rich folks are all stingy, literally trying to save a life with

just a hundred thousand dors. Ten million, and that’s the final offer! Otherwise, I''ll kill her right

now!" Susan was so hateful that she gritted her teeth and said grimly. For the past three years, she

had lived worse than an animal, struggling to find her next meal, and had been tormented by

    hunger.

There were times she nearly starved to death. The agony of being on the brink of death was

unbearable, and she vowed never to endure that despair again.
