    Chapter 1497

Zephyr''s move was a real stroke of genius, pulling the rug out from under them.

Rosalind couldn''t help but feel a secret thrill, though she kept her face neutral.

"It''s my fault, really," she said, "I''ve overworked you. Once we''re back, you should just rest."

Lysander didn''t say a word, and Rosalind, picking up on the cue, fell silent as well.

Thssa had already turned down Callum, insisting she didn''t need a ride from him. But he was

    adamant about taking her home.

It was her own fault for not driving today. Thinking she might indulge in a few drinks, she had opted

for a cab ride to avoid driving under the influence. Little did she know, this would be Callum''s

excuse to offer her a ride back.

Sitting in the backseat, Thssa watched the scenery sh by in reverse through the window.

Callum, behind the wheel, asionally nced at her through the rear-view mirror. Noting her

mncholic gaze out the window and the furrow in her brow, he said, "It''s been three years, but you

    seem even thinner than before."

His words, floating in the quiet of the car, pulled Thssa back to the moment. She blinked, her

eyshes fluttering slightly, and replied, "I''m about the same, actually. But you, you''ve recovered

    well, looking even more dashing."

"Thanks for thepliment," Callum said, a smile in his eyes. "How are things with you and

    Lysander?"

"It''s... the same," Thssa replied instinctively, turning her gaze back to the window, reluctant to

delve into her rtionship with Lysander.Material ? of N?velDrama.Org.

Suddenly, Callum hit the brakes hard, causing Thssa to lurch forward. She quickly steadied

herself against the seat, asking worriedly, "What happened?"

"There''s been an ident up ahead. The road''s blocked," Callum exined.

Looking ahead, Thssa saw that a car had hit a pedestrian, who nowy on the ground, while the

driver had stopped and was trying to negotiate with the injured party. However, the negotiation

wasn''t going smoothly, causing a traffic jam.

With Callum''s caring to a halt, a line of vehicles behind them also stopped.

The driver tried to reason with the person on the ground, offering to take them to the hospital for a

comprehensive check-up and cover all medical expenses. However, the person refused to get up,

    demanding money instead.

The sound of car horns filled the air.

Finally, a passenger from the ident vehicle stepped out, approached the person on the ground,

and said, "Ma''am, my driver has already offered to take you to the hospital for a full check-up. We''ll

cover any medical costs. Why are you still lying here?"

"I won''t go to the hospital. Just give me fifty thousand in cash, and I''ll check myself. How do I know

you''re not in cahoots with the doctors? They might say I''m fine. Then, if I get sickter, who do I turn

    to?”

The person on the ground was a woman, her voice loud and clear despite her disheveled and dirty

appearance. Her face smeared with dirt, making it hard to identify her, but her voice was

    unmistakably feminine.

"Doesn''t look like you''re hurt that badly to warrant fifty thousand, does it?" the passenger retorted.

Through the car window, Thssa could see clearly that the passenger was Rosalind!

So, it was Rosalind''s car that had hit someone!

Could Lysander be in the car too?

Thssa''s gaze shifted to the front, spotting a sleek ck limousine. Lysander had to be in the

    back seat.

Concerned about his well-being, especially with his already fragile health, Thssa didn''t want any

trouble that might hinder his recovery. Having looked after Lysander for three years to help him

regain his health, she couldn''t afford any setbacks now.

Thssa opened the car door and stepped out, approaching the woman on the ground. "You say

you''re injured, right? Then, let''s follow the proper procedure. We''ll call the police to handle the

ident and dial an ambnce to take you to the hospital. These are official numbers; there''s no

    conspiracy."

With that, Thssa took out her phone, ready to make the call.

"Don''t call!" the woman on the ground suddenly stood up, grabbing Thssa''s phone to stop her.
