    Chapter 1000

“Let me give you a ride,” Bruce stood up.

Thssa’s heart clenched at the proposal, her entire body vignt.

She didn’t need Bruce’s charity at all. Was this another one of his veiled threats?

“It’s just a short walk, and there’s no need for a ride. Please just sit down and eat!” Lucy griped. She

grabbed Bruce’s wrist and pulled him back down to the dinner table with a force that brooked no

    argument.

Bruce didn’t dare to protest Lucy’s assertiveness. Arguing over such a trivial matter was not worth the

hassle, especially when it would just lead to Lucy dredging up the past.

    Bruce sat back down reluctantly.

Lucy shoved a fork into his hand, “Just keep eating.”

Bruce slumped in his chair. He looked unhappy. His disdain for Lucy had reached its maximum, and he

yearned to be free from her right now.

But Lucy had him in a vice grip.

Bruce knew he was nothing without money.

He had to suppress his revulsion, go back to y the devoted husband, and share the meal with her.

Thssa hastily left the Bruce’s ce, got into her car, and sped away.

Once she was clear of their territory and driving on the open asphalt road, Thssa finally felt her

    nerves begin to rx.

Her breathing, which had been so constricted, was now eased.

Her grip on the steering wheel tightened as she fought to calm the nervous excitement within her.

Now, she had Bruce’s phone number and familywork IP in her possession. She would simply just

request Atticus to hack into Bruce’s phone andputer and delete the video.

Then she could be free, no longer threatened by Bruce, and her mother wouldn’t have to face the

psychological torment of the video’s release.

Thssa checked the time; it was half-past two. Atticus would be out of school in an hour and a half.

She decided to grab a bite at a nearby diner and then pick up the kids from daycare; it would time out

    perfectly.

She spotted a diner not far from the daycare and drove there.

After ordering, she settled in her booth to wait for her food, idly scrolling through her phone.

“Have a great day, Sir, and we hope to see you again soon.” The polite voice of a server rang out

    behind her.

Thssa paid it no mind and was absorbed in her phone until a tall shadow loomed at the edge of her

    table, darkening her screen.

She turned around and caught sight of the tall figure. It was a man with a gentle, smiling face, as

    refreshing as a soft breeze.

    “Callum!” Thssa eximed, surprised.

Callum’s lips curved in his usual warm smile as he greeted, “Ms. Everhart, what a coincidence!”

“Yeah, quite the coincidence.” Thssa replied. She had just picked a diner at random and had not

    expected to run into Callum.

“May I?” He nodded towards the seat opposite to her.

Taken aback for a moment, Thssa politely responded, “Of course, please.”

Callum sat down across from her, and the server promptly poured him a ss of ice water.

He took a sip from the ss. His slender fingers entuated by the rity of the cup. He set the ss

down but didn’t release it, instead holding it with both hands as he fixed his gaze on Thssa. “Last

night, you didn’t tell Lysander the identity of the one who kidnapped you. Why?”

He had been wanting to ask Thssa, but the right opportunity had eluded him until now. And he

wasn’t about to let this chance slip away.

Thssa paused. The fears and despair from the previous night resurged at the mention, her breath

    catching in her throat.
