Chapter 767
“Where do you live?” ric asked.
The ce he had always assumed Hertha to live in was actually Thssa’s home, and he had always
thought the four kids of Lysander and Thssa to be hers.
So, he had no idea at all where Hertha actually lived.
“What are you doing now? Dropping me home? I don’t need it!” Hertha huffed, puffing her cheeks out in
irritation. “Take me to the bar. I haven’t had my fill yet!”
ric’s face darkened; he said in a stern voice, “Hertha, are you trying to ruin yourself? That guy’s as
old as the hills and you know he’s only drinking with you to get you drunk. You know what happens
after that and I don’t need to spell it out!”
“Do you think I want to drink with him? It’s for work!” Hertha sat up straight; her eyes were shing with
anger.
Herrge, round eyes were filled with a mixture of hurt and rage.
“You can find another job, but if you lose yourself, you can’t find that again,” ric said; his usualid-
back demeanor was reced by a serious expression.
At his words, something tightened in Hertha’s chest, and her hands clenched on the cushion behind
her. Tears welled in her eyes as she snapped, “Why do you care if I lose myself? You’re not my family
and I don’t need you to look after me! I won’t go home, so take me to the bar!”
She was puffing and being stubborn.
“Hertha, don’t be so headstrong,” ric warned, his face stern.
“I will be so headstrong! If you won’t take me, I’ll get a cab myself! I’m upset now and why can’t I even
have a drink? What are you, my dad or mom? Why are you trying to control everything?” Hertha’s voice
was quick with emotion, which was a clear sign of her distress.
“Enough of this. Just give me your address,” ric said, not wanting to be led by her.
“You’re not going? Fine, I’ll jump out!” Hertha’s eyes filled with tears as she made an impulse move to
open the car door.
Seeing her actions in the rear-view mirror, ric barked, “Hertha, sit down and behave!”
But Hertha continued, her knuckles white and her face desperate as she pounded on the locked door.
“Quiet down, I’ll take you to a bar!” ric finally gave in to her demands.
Hearing his words, Hertha finally stopped; her chest was still heaving.
He couldn’t tell whether she was being sulk with him or herself.
Soon, ric pulled up to the front of a local bar.
Hertha got out of the car without a word and started walking towards the bar’s entrance.

ric stayed in the driver’s seat; his hands were gripping the steering wheel tightly. He was furious and
ready to drive off.
She was right, he wasn’t her family, so why should he care?
As he drove away, he nced in the rear-view mirror and saw Hertha’s swaying figure entering the
bar.
He mmed on the brakes and the car came to a sudden stop. He swore under his breath and
reversed the car, parking it and getting out.
“Hertha, I must owe you from a past life!” he muttered to himself as he entered the bar.
His eyes scanned the crowd and found Hertha’s slirn figure at the bar, nursing a ss of yellowish
whiskey.
A predatory man approached her and, with a sinister grin, struck up a conversation.
When Hertha wasn’t looking, he dropped a pill into her drink.
“Hey, beautiful, let’s have a drink together,” the man said as he raised his ss to her.
Hertha gave a naive smile and lifted her own ss, clinking it against his, “Sure, let’s have a drink.”
And with that, she lifted the ss to her lips.
