Skr exined, “You misunderstood. I’m nning to visit Grandma Vi’s ce in the
countryside.”
The tension in Joe’s dark eyes eased as soon as he heard her exnation. The frustration that had
been stirring in his chest gave way to a sense of relief.
“When are you leaving?” he asked.
“Tomorrow,” Skr responded.
Joe didn’t ask any further questions, though his half–lowered gaze indicated he was thinking about
something.
Skr turned and went upstairs to change her clothes. When she returned a few minutester, Joe
had just gotten off the phone.
He turned to her. “I had Paul book train tickets. I’ll go with you tomorrow,” Joe announced.
“What?” Skr was taken aback. “You’re going with me to the countryside?”
“Yeah, is there a problem?” Joe’s expression remained calm.
She shook her head. “No, not really. But the countryside isn’t exactlyfortable. Are you sure you
can handle it?”

Joe raised an eyebrow, his voice cold but determined. “What can’t I handle?”
“Fine. But I have already bought my train ticket. We might not even sit together on the train-” Skr
began, but Joe cut her off mid–sentence.
“It’s just over an hour by train. I don’t need to sit,” he said firmly.
He had even considered standing for the entire train ride. Skr knew then that Joe was
determined to join her on this trip to the countryside, no matter what.
Afterward, Skr carefully dealt with the ring. Then, she and Joe packed up a few things together.
Since shopping in the countryside wasn’t convenient, they made sure to bring enough clothes and
daily essentials. By the time they were done, it
was already past midnight.
After breakfast, they headed straight to the train station the following day. On the way, Skr
informed Gloria of their ns.
Gloria thought they were just taking a trip to the countryside to rx and cheerfully mentioned that
they Gloria thought they were just taking a trip to th should all have dinner together when they
returned.
After finishing the call with Gloria, Skr also called Janine to inform her of the n. Since they
hadn’t been back to the countryside since arriving in Jipsburg, Janine mentioned she wanted a few
things at home.
She reminded Skr to bring a few items back when she returned and to check for any issues with
the house.
Once they boarded the train, Skr noticed the seat next to her remained empty as the person who
had booked it was a no–show.
Joe took the seat beside her, and from the moment they sat down until they reached their
destination, no
one came to im the spot.
Skr figured Joe hadn’t previously traveled on such a crowded, older train. The train was full, and
the
seats were quite cramped.

Facing strangers wasn’t a big deal for her, but it was probably ufortable for Joe. Skr could
sense his slight impatience.
The weak phone signal made streaming videos or shows difficult. Seeing Joe’s growing frustration,
Skr suggested, “I downloaded a movie in advance. Do you want to watch it together?”
The trip took only about an hour, just enough time for them to finish the movie before they reached
their
stop.
Joe simply nodded in agreement, keeping his usual cool demeanor, which Skr had grown used
to by
now.
Skr handed Joe a Bluetooth earbud, and they watched the movie together. Time passed quickly,
and before they realized it, they had arrived at their stop.
The tform at their stop was crowded. Joe held Skr close, making sure she wasn’t jostled or
pushed by others.
Across the street from the train station was the bus terminal. Skr had refunded her original ticket
the day before and purchased two tickets for a bus leaving half an hourter.”
By the time they got to the bus terminal, it was already midday. While waiting for the bus, Skr
went to buy two burritos.
There wasn’t much to eat around the station, but these burritos were one of the better options.
Skr nced at Joe, unsure if he would like the food. “Give it a try. If you don’t like it, I have some
sandwiches in my bag,” she offered.
