    Richest Mogul 1044

After her rant, Vera, still fuming, called Molly.

Molly sounded out of breath when she picked up the phone, and it wasn’t clear what she’d been

    doing.

“It’s sote. What’s the emergency?” she asked, her tone clearly annoyed.

Vera didn’t care about the time or whether she was interrupting Molly. In anger, she demanded an

    answer from Molly.

“Joe was so cold to me, and he even made me exin my rtionship with him in front of Skr.

Skr seems to be more important to him than I am. Is this what you meant when you said once I

got back to Jipsburg, he’d start to hate her and fall for me instead?”

“Did you lie to me?” Vera snapped as she rummaged through her bag, frantically searching for the

    ring.

“Why would I lie to you? What would I even gain from that? If you don’t believe me, then return the

ring,” Molly shot back, equally frustrated.

Vera’s expression changed as she suddenly let out a panicked cry, “The ring is gone! I think I lost it

when I left Gxy Vi. I don’t know if I dropped it in the vi or outside!”

“What? You lost it? Where did you put it? How could you just lose it? You better find it! If Skr gets

her hands on it, you can forget about ever getting close to Joe again!” Molly’s voice wasced with

    panic

    now, too.

There was a sound of shuffling on Molly’s end, and Vera vaguely heard her tell someone, “You can

    go first.

Despite hearing themotion, Vera was too focused on her frantic search for the ring to care what

    Molly was doing.

Even though she’d downyed its importance, she realized she had started relying on it, believing it

would somehow help her get back at Skr.

She emptied her entire bag, but the ring was nowhere to be found.

Vera’s face turned pale. “I have no idea where it fell. I took it off and put it in my bag because Skr

was there, and it shouldn’t have slipped out. I’ll check my car.”

Vera rushed out to her car and searched high and low, spending half the night tearing through every

corner. But the ring was still missing.

    She was panicking.

“I can’t find it. What should I do now? I can’t go back to Gxy Vi at this hour. What if Skr finds

it? What kind of trouble would that cause?” Desperate, she called Molly again.

This time, Molly sounded much calmer.

If it’s gone, then it’s gone. Maybe the ring just wasn’t meant for you. Even if Skr finds it, she

probably won’t know what it means. In a couple of days, I’ll send you a ne. Wear it all the

time. And from now on, avoid seeing Skr–just focus on Joe.”

Vera reluctantly agreed, but something still didn’t sit right with her. A gnawing unease crept inside

like she was falling into a bottomless, dark pit she couldn’t climb out of.

    Skr had a dreamless night.

When she woke up the following day, Joe was still lounging in bed. As she tried to get up, he pulled

    her back down.

“You already quit your job. Why are you getting up so early? Sleep in a bit longer,” he murmured,

his voice still thick with sleep. Barely a minuteter, she heard his steady breathing again. He had

    fallen back asleep.

Skr couldn’t help but roll her eyes. She didn’t remember Joe being this fond of sleeping. If

anyone found out he had trouble sleeping, they’d never believe it.

Sure, she had quit her job, but that didn’t mean she had nothing to do. Today, Minerva had invited

her to an auction. She wanted her help picking out something special for an elderly rtive’s 80th

    birthday.

Apparently, Minerva was worried about identally bidding on something of bad luck, so she asked

Skr to tag along for good luck.

Thankfully, the auction wasn’t until 7:00 pm.

Her mind wandered back to Vi and those two letters. Her thoughts became jumbled.

Eventually, without realizing it, she fell back asleep.

When she woke again, she shot up in shock. It was already 11:00 am! She’d slept far longer than

    she intended.

Joe woke up around the same time.

This time, he didn’t try to drag her back to bed.

It seemed that a full night and morning of rest had left himpletely recharged.

There were no more traces of exhaustion in his eyes, no redness left from sleepless nights.
