    Skr sighed in relief and went downstairs.


    She stood before the door and studied the person outside through the surveince camera.


    When she saw it was Vera, she frowned. Skr opened the door and walked out.

    She was ringing incessantly on their doorbell in the middle of the night. Vera had bettere

    “What do you want?” asked Skr directly.


    Vera answered, “I want to see Joe. What I have to say would be lost on you. The fact that I’m here


    at this hour means that I need to see him to discuss something extremely important. Is he at home?

    Skr immediately called Joe.


    He picked up quickly and asked, “Who is it?”


    “It’s Ms. Ruell. She said she’s got to see you to talk about an extremely important matter.”


    Joe was silent for a few moments.


    As Skr stood quietly, Vera held her breath in suspense. She was feeling rather nervous.


    Skr picked up on Vera’s nervousness and couldn’t help but feel confused. Shouldn’t Vera‘ have


    been extremely confident that Joe would agree to see her? After all, they had a tumultuous

    “Bring her in,” said Joe.


    Skr smirked. She’d overthought it.


    Perhaps Joe had been dying to see Vera the second she mentioned her. Skr felt relieved that


    she hadn’t impulsively told him about her feelings for him.


    If not, Joe would be making fun of her for that. Skr had to remember this feeling. Then, she


    turned to Vera and said, “Doe in.”

    After they walked in, they saw Joe, who’d alreadye downstairs. He was sitting on the couch.


    Upon noticing him, Skr shot him a nce before heading upstairs.


    As she stepped onto the first stair, Joe said, “Wait.”
