Skr’s thoughts drifted back to the two letters from Vi and then to her own rebirth.
She realized that her rebirth had not only changed her fate but also affected the lives of those
around her. It was like the butterfly effect–small ripples causing unpredictable consequences.
She wondered if this could have influenced Gloria’s health as well. Skr’s face paled at that
possibility.
As soon as Gloria steadied herself, she noticed Skr’s sudden paleness. She immediately
guessed Skr must be worried about her.
Gloria said with a reassuring smile, “I’m fine, Skye. I just stood up too fast and felt a bit dizzy.
Nothing to worry about.”
“Alright, I’ll help you to the table.” She stepped forward to take Gloria from Edgar’s hands.
Gloria smiled warmly and nodded. “Let’s go. It’s time to eat.”
Just as they sat down, Joe arrived.
“Traffic was terrible,” he exined briefly.
Gloria huffed, “We waited so long, the food’s gone cold. Hurry up and eat.”
“Alright.” Joe agreed, his gaze shifting to Skr as he approached the table. Seeing her pale face,
Joe was worried about her.
He wondered what had happened to her after she had gone to work that day. Alexander had kept
everything tightly under wraps, revealing no hint of what was happening. As for Skr, she seemed
to be hiding it well, but Joe could tell something had shifted in her mood.
She was hiding something.
“You two looked so good in your wedding photos. Have you booked the hotel yet?” Gloria asked,
making sure everything was on track.
Since the photoshoot was over, the next step was to secure the venue and ensure the wedding
proceeded as nned.*
Joe nodded and said, “We booked it before heading abroad.”
Listening to Joe and Gloria discuss wedding photos and the venue, Skr felt her chest grow
heavier with each word. They gradually noticed Skr’s face growing paler as the conversation
continued, and her silence became concerning.
Sensing something was off, Gloria asked, “Skye, is something bothering you? You don’t look well.”
In all the time Gloria had known Skr, this was the first time she had seen her so distracted, her
face pale and distant, as if she were either unwell or troubled by something.
Joe kept his eyes locked on Skr.
“I’m fine, Grandma. I think it’s just the jetg froming back from Fachington. I haven’t fully
adjusted yet, but I’ll be better once I get some rest in a few days Skr exined with a smile.
“Alright then, but make sure you rest well these days. If you feel unwell, go to the hospital, okay?”
Gloria reminded her with concern.
Verodded in agreement. After dinner, Gloria was feeling tired, so she headed upstairs to sleep.

Edgar immediately agreed. “Yes, yes. If you help, I’m sure Mrs. Martin Senior will finally agree to go
to the hospital.”
Gloria had been refusing to visit the hospital, and it had left Edgar feeling anxious about her health.
He had been caring for Gloria daily, so he was well aware of her condition. Compared to before,
Gloria’s health had clearly declined.
Although Howard had previously said she had only a few years left, seeing her health worsen made
his heart ache. It felt like needles pricking at him, leaving her deeply ufortable and worried.
As Joe and Skr left Pearlhall Residence, Edgar made a silent wish. “All Mrs. Martin Senior wants
is to see them doing well. They must cherish each other.”
After leaving Pearlhall Residence, Skr drove her own car home with Joe following closely behind
in his. Joe had offered to drive her back, suggesting they could send a driver to retrieve her car
later, but she had declined.
From the moment she had arrived at Pearlhall Residence until the moment they left, Skr had
been distracted, her mind wandering. She couldn’t shake the unsettling feeling that lingered in her
heart.
Vi’s letter had been like a warning bell, constantly echoing in her mind. She gripped the steering
wheel tightly.
