    The others beside her said nothing. However, they weren’t pleased either. After all, she was Denton’s favorite granddaughter. They


    couldn’tment on her.


    They had no idea how capable Skr was, either. Their problem had stumped many famous divination masters, so they could


    only test their luck. However, Alexander was a promise for his team’s quality. It was unlikely that he’d cause any problems.


    “Fine. Contact him. He’d


    told me about the negative items and I didn’t believe him. We’ll see his response to this call,” sighed Denton. His regret


    grew by the minute.


    Vera nodded and replied, “Alright. Don’t worry, Grandpa.”


    Then, Vera left to make the call. Denton told Alexander that they agreed to pay


    20 million. However, Vera wouldn’t be apologizing to Skr for the time being.


    Upon hearing this, Alexander insisted, “The deal is off if you don’t fulfill both conditions. Why don’t you reconsider?”


    Denton hadn’t expected Alexander to take up such an immovable stance.


    After hanging up, Denton frowned.


    After Vera left Denton’s room, she returned to her own, got into bed, and called


    Joe.


    It was almost time to get off work, so he shouldn’t have been busy.


    After a few beeps, Joe picked up. He asked, “What’s up?”


    Vera’s heart clenched upon hearing his cold tone. She bit her


    lip and said, “Joe, did you tell my Grandpa that I had negative items in my collection when you visited him?”


    “Yeah,” answered Joe. He spoke in a monotone.


    Vera inhaled deeply. She felt like Joe was drifting


    away from her. She continued, “Many things have been happening to my family. In the beginning, Grandpa didn’t believe that


    a negative item had caused this. However, Hector  came down with an ident today. Thus we believe that it might be


    the negative items causing a fuss. Joe, do you know how to get rid of negative items?”


    What she said must’ve intrigued Joe, for his sentences grew longer. He replied, “I do, but have you figured out what


    you’ll need to sacrifice?”


    Sacrifice?


    Vera froze.


    Did this mean that Joe wanted to sleep with her? Were they going to take thest step?


    Initially, she wanted to get closer to Joe. They would only sleep together when he fell for her.


    She wasn’t expecting this to happen to the Ruells. All of this would’ve been avoided


    if she hadn’t bought those antiques at the auction.


    However, everything had happened. She couldn’t continue


    ying the waiting game. If she didn’t sleep with him, she would only push Joe further away from her.


    Vera inhaled deeply and said, “I’ve made my decision.”


    Joe hummed. Then, he said, “Skr is the only person who can help


    you with this. She listed two conditions. The first being a fee of 20 million and the second being an apology.”
