Chapter 801
?
Skr thought that a single dose of antipyretics wouldn''t be fatal. Furthermore, Joe''s symptoms were like those of amon cold. His eyes were red, and his voice was nasal.
Joe noticed that Skr had been remarkably patient with him, and their interactions had grown even more distant than when they first met. It felt as though his heart was blocked off, making him feel stifled and ufortable.
Seeing Joe staring at her, Skr couldn''t continue pretending she didn''t notice. She asked helplessly, "Is there anywhere else you feel unwell, Mr. Martin?"
"No, that''s all."
"You should get some rest," Skr said, ncing at the clock. It was already 9:00 pm.
Joe looked at her intently and then pulled her down onto the bed.
Skr was startled. "What are you doing?"
"Don''t worry, I''m not going to do anything to you," Joe said. He buried his face in her neck.
The familiar warmth and scent helped calm his restless mind.
Gradually, exhaustion and drowsiness overtook him. Skr was speechless at his bluntness.
Within seconds, she heard his steady breathing. She wondered if he was already asleep. She smelled like a fondue, yet he didn''t seem to mind. She tried to move, but he held her too tightly.
"Fine," she thought. She would make do with the fondue smell and sleep. However, Joe felt like a human furnace. His body was extremely hot. Skr closed her eyes and managed to sleep a little, but it wasn''t very restful.
She hadn''t changed out of her clothes, and she sweated a bit. After about an hour, she woke up and checked the time. It was past 10:00 pm. Joe was deeply asleep. She reached out to check his forehead. The temperature hade down.
When he was pressed against her neck earlier, he was burning up, but now his temperature was normal.
Even his breathing was even and gentler than before.
Skr gently shifted and managed to slip out of Joe''s embrace. She moved quietly as she got out of bed and headed to the bathroom.
She needed a shower. Otherwise, she wouldn''t be able to sleep that night.
30 minutester, she emerged from the bathroom. Joe had moved to the other side of the bed.
Skr took a quick look and then carefully climbed back into bed. There was enough space between them for another person.
Once Skr was asleep, Joe, who had initially been lying on his side moved closer. But he seemed to feel it wasn''t quite enough. He reached out and pulled Skr back into his arms.
When Skr woke up again, it was already morning. At first, she felt disoriented. Then she recalled
something and quickly reach
out
to check Joe''s forehead.
His temperature was normal. She breathed a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, Joe''s eyes opened. The room was dark because the lights were off, and the curtains blocked out most of the light.
In the dim lighting, Joe''s eyes appeared dark and heavy. It didn''t look like he had just woken up. Rather, it seemed like he had been awake for some time.
Skr felt a bit uneasy under his gaze. "How are you feeling now?" she asked.
"Much better," Joe said, sitting up.
Skr rxed. "That''s good. I''ll have the hotel send breakfast over. You should eat and see if you have any other symptoms." "Alright."
Skr didn''t say anything more and went to the bathroom.
When she came out, the hotel had delivered breakfast. Thevish breakfast was truly appetizing, featuring a delightful blend of Wiscadian and Floan cuisine.
She picked up her phone from the
bedside. There were several missed calls. Caleb had called seven or eight times, all from about 20 minutes ago, and there was also a call from Aiken. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDra/ma.O(r)g!
She decided to return Caleb''s call first.
