Chapter 760
As Janine attempted to stand, she wobbled and almost fell forward. Thankfully, someone nearby
caught her.
Once she steadied herself, she scanned the area seen was no longer there.
“What happened?” the person beside her asked.
refully, but the familiar fiqure she thought she had
Janine appeared dazed. “Nothing. I thought I saw someone I knew, but it was probably just my
mistake.”
Just then, Skr emerged from the doctor’s office.
“Mom, I’m going to get the medication,” Skr said.
“Okay, go ahead,” Janine replied.
Skr, absorbed in the medical instructions, didn’t notice Janine’s slight shift in mood.
When Skr returned with the medication, Janine seemed to have returned to her usual self.
Skr drove Janine home and decided to stay for a few days.
As soon as Janine realized Skr intended to stay, she swiftly refused. “The fridge is stocked. Even
with one leg out ofmission, I can manage on my own. You should go back and not cause Joe
any unnecessary worry.”
“Mom, you need proper care for your broken leg. I can’t leave you by yourself,” Skr insisted,
sending a text to Joe to exin what was happening and her intention to stay at Yancey Residence
for a few days
Janine was well aware of Skr’s stubbornness. Once she decided on something, persuading her
otherwise was nearly impossible. So, Janine reluctantly gave in.
When Joe arrived at Pearhall Residence, he noticed someone was visiting. He asked the household
staff, “Who’s here?”
“It’s Ms. Ruell.”
“Ms. Ruell?” he echoed, a puzzled frown creasing his brow.
When he entered and saw Vera, he was surprised. Vera was chatting happily with Gloria. She
turned around when she heard a sound. With a smile, she greeted, “Joe.”
Their unexpected meeting at Pearhall Residence was a surprise for both. Vera had primarilye
to speak with Gloria but hadn’t yet had the chance, as Joe’s arrival had interrupted her ns.
Besides, given Joe’s presence, it wouldn’t be appropriate to discuss her reasons for visiting right
away. So, she decided it was best to save those words for another time when she could speak with
Gloria
privately.
Gloria wasn’t surprised to see Joe alone at Pearhall Residence, knowing that Skr had other
commitments. Yet, she couldn’t help feeling slightly displeased that Skr wasn’t there.
Gloria questioned the purpose of just having her grandson there.
Half an hourter, Joe and Vera left separately.
Gloria was troubled. “Why did Verae back now?”
“Are you worried about Mr. Martin?” Edgar asked.
Gloría nodded. “For years, Joe hasn’t let many people get close, and it’s because of her. Even
though Joe hasn’t mentioned it, as his grandmother, I can tell.”
“So, does Ms. Ruell’s visit means she wants to be with Joe? And where does Mrs. Martin fit into all
of this? “Edgar asked, frowning.

He was relieved that Skr wasn’t present today; exining Vera’s visit would have been difficult.
“Joe would never neglect Skye,” Gloria said firmly.
Edgar nodded in agreement. “Yes, Mr. Martin would never do anything to hurt Mrs. Martin. Besides,
I believe he’s grown quite fond of her. Their rtionship has been progressing well, and Ms. Ruell
has been away from Jipsburg for years. Back then, Mr. Martin was still young. Now… we shouldn’t
worry too much.”
“It’s impossible not to worry,” Gloria replied, her voice heavy with concern. “Do they think I don’t
know about the prenuptial agreement?”
Edgar struggled to findforting words.
“Vera visited me today, and it wasn’t just a casual visit. Before Joe got here, she likely had
something on her mind to discuss with me,” Gloria added.
Edgar was surprised. “What do you think she wanted to talk about?”
Gloria shook her head. “She didn’t get a chance today, but she’ll find another time to bring it up.”
“Yes, she will,” Edgar agreed.
