Chapter 45: Their Emotions


    IN THE NIGHT


    The pain worsened. Athena just woke up from sleep just a few minutes ago from the pain on her leg


    and waist. She needed a hot water bag to massage her feet and waist. The wounds were getting


    healed back.


    Now a hot bag should ease the cramps. She decided to go down and make a hot water bag ready. But


    could she walk alone?


    She once again tried to call her wolf but didn’t get a reply. That made her worried and sad. What was


    wrong with her wolf? As far as what she heard from Suzanne, her mate’s bond with Dominic was


    retrieved back by Irene’s magic. Then why wasn’t her wolf back yet?


    She knew that the moment she gets well, she is going to have a big fight with Suzanne. She saw that in


    her eyes. She saw how hard Suzanne was trying to keep calm just because she was sick.

    And currently she doesn’t want to call Dominic or take help from him as she was staying in his


    mansion. Nathan and Justin dropped her here today a few hours ago. She didn’t know which room she


    was in. It wasvish and had a ckish interior design. She never came to the third floor. There wasn’t


    anyone else. So, she decided to do it alone. She gently got down the bed and took slow painful steps


    to the door.


    She opened it and the moment she stepped ahead, the cramp made her yelp. But she suppressed it by


    biting her lips and walked till the stairs while bearing a lot of pain. It was midnight now. No one was


    around as Dominic doesn’t like to keep maids around, she was an exception and she wondered where


    Dominic was. Ace was sleeping in the room opposite to where she was peacefully.


    The cramp intensified and she couldn’t bear it anymore. She didn’t realise when her feet slipped and


    she lost her grip from the ground. Her eyes went shut.


    “Dominic!” She shouted out of instinct for help while waiting for the immense pain that was going to


    come from the hit.


    “Careful!” He shouted and scooped her in arms and hugged her tightly while pressing her closer to his


    heart. He was scared.


    Dominic had just returned from a long run. It was midnight but he wasn’t scared of anything other than


    now losing someone. But that’s not the topic here. When he just came to the mansion, the whole house


    was dark. And the first room he went to was downstairs, where Athena had been staying from the past


    few days.


    He was a little shocked and angry thinking if she wasn’t there, did Nathan and Justin take her to any of


    their houses? His anger and restlessness intensified which wasn’t going to calm down until he went to


    her and saw her face.


    That was what he was going to do. He went out of the room when her beautiful rosemary scent hit his


    nostrils, making his senses go numb. That’s when he realised that she was in his house only. He ran


    toward the stairs and his heart almost stopped beating when he saw the scene of her falling and her


    calling his name out in danger!

    As soon as Athena felt she wasn’t falling down, Dominic caught her at the end moment and saved her,


    she had kicked her ego for some time and hugged him tightly. She was scared.


    They both were in each other’s embrace for a long time, relishing the moment that nothing bad


    happened while closing their eyes. Their breathing was uneven and their hearts were pounding crazily.


    It was after sometime that Athena realised what happened and what she was doing, she froze. Was


    she dreaming or was Dominic really here and saved her at the end moment? She understood from the


    tight hug and crazy heartbeat of his that he was scared.


    Dominic couldn’t calm his heart down yet. Thanks to his stars, he decided to check up on her but he


    had never expected to find her in the lobby, struggling to walk.


    “You will never learn!” He growled carrying her in arms again and started to walk back to the room


    where she was. That was actually Dominic’s room where everyone is forbidden from entering and his


    idiot friends put her there only! He walked inside his room and made her sit on the bed.


    Though she was thankful he saved her from more pain, she didn’t like hisment and attitude. She


    was in this state partially because of him as well! Did he forget?


    No, she is not ming him for the attack she took for her, she did it because she wanted to do it. But


    what she was ming him for was if he hadn’t gone to mark Stacey, she wouldn’t have gone to the


    forest and this wouldn’t have happened. She still doesn’t know if the ritual waspleted or not.


    “I didn’t ask for your help. I could have managed.” She mumbled to herself with a cute frown adorning


    her face.

    “Yeah.. I saw how you were managing yourself!” He mocked her while cing her on the bed again.


    “Why did you get down? And why the hell didn’t you call me?” He snapped in anger, he won’t be able to


    imagine her going through what she went through yesterday again.


    She was almost dead!


    “Shh…” She hushed him. “You will wake Ace up.” She scowled at him and he scowled back.


    “You were going to do that, not me. If you had fallen down, you would have woken up everybody in this


    area.” He said and rolled his eyes at him.


    Athena was seriously angry when he taunted her for no reason. It wasn’t her fault that the silver in her


    system was intensifying her wounds and making her weak.


    “If I had to wake him up, I wouldn’t have walked alone till the door. Suzanne, Nathan, Justin, Patricia,


    they all had asked me to call them anytime if I needed anything but I definitely can’t call them at this


    time. I. don’t want to cause more trouble. And you… Don’t expect me to go to you because you didn’t


    prove yourself to be approachable at all, to be honest. You are aware of that as well. So, what do you


    expect from me in that situation?” She snapped at him in one breath.


    “What did you want? Why were you not in bed and walking around in this state?” He asked her with a


    frown, while not replying to her previous questions. She let out a sigh. She was too tired and too much


    in pain to act stubborn. She needed his help.


    “My right side of the waist and right leg are aching. I need a hot water bag.” She said in a low voice


    while looking down. She was angry at herself for gettingfortable with him and being vulnerable in


    front of him. But at the same time, it felt so right.


    “Is there swelling? Did it turn ck or purple?” He asked with concern which was new on his face. She


    has never seen that ever on his handsome face. And that was for her. Exclusively for her.


    The realisation made her heart flip.


    “I don’t., know..” She pouted. She didn’t feel any swelling but she couldn’t confirm it yet.


    “Let me check.” He said and was about to touch her feet when she pulled her feet away from his hand.


    “No! Don’t.. 1., I am fine.” She said hurriedly. didn’t want him to touch her leg and waist. Those two


    body parts were very sensitive spots for her. She won’t be able to tolerate his touches there.


    “Stop this stupidity right now and let me see it. I am tired of everyone getting on my nerves today.


    Please don’t be one of them right now.” He snapped at her without thinking as he was already worried


    for her and she was being unnecessarilyplicated and hard.


    Athena looked at him in shock.


    “I know that you are fed up with me.” She wiped her tears. “I know I am creating problems after


    problems for all of you to start. Your and Stacey’s ceremony got ruined because of me. I know how to


    end all that.” She said while tears were shining in her eyes. She was going to do what she nned to


    do yesterday. He clenched his jaw, understanding very well what she meant.


    “Just shut up and sit here without a word or thought. I will get a hot water bag for you.” He said with a


    stony face while turning back to get the hot bag. He knew he shouldn’t have called her trouble


    considering how short-tempered she was but it’s not time to correct himself as she was in pain right


    now.


    “I don’t need it anymore. I am fine. Please leave me alone. I will leave the room first thing in the


    morning. Please bear with me tonight. Good night.” She snapped while slowly lying down on the bed.


    Dominic clenched his jaw. He knew her leg and waist were still aching and only because she didn’t


    want t o take his favours, she was denying him.


    “I am still getting it. And we will see if you need it or not after Ie back.” Saying that he was gone.


    Athena cuddled her pillow. His rudeness pricked her badly and she was not at fault in the first ce.


    She didn’t understand why her emotions were all over the ce that day. Was it because of the silver


    or what? Why was she being so needy and overwhelmed by so many emotions toward him? Or was it


    his sudden soft behaviour toward her?

    When Dominic came back into the room, he saw Athena all cuddled on the pillow. She looked so fragile


    and in pain that he wondered what best he could do to make her feel better.


    “Lie on your back.” Hemanded making his way to the bed.


    Athena didn’t pay heed to hismands. Dominic ced the hot water bag on the bedside table.


    “Athena, don’t throw your tantrums again, please.” Dominic requested, for the first time in his life he


    requested so genuinely. For the first time he meant it. He might have used the word ‘please before but


    in annoyance. But only Athena managed to make him feel defeated enough to feel it. He let out a tired,


    sigh.


    She has lost her cool now.


    “If you are so tired of me, I will just leave tomorrow morning with Ace. You can leave me to myself.” She


    snapped at him as a few drops of tears fell from her eyes.


    Something was definitely wrong with her! Why was she crying?!


    It felt like a punch. But she was right. She was in pain and he is being impatient with her even after


    knowing how she is.


    It wasn’t going to help at all,


    *Please lie on your back, Athena. Let me help you relieve your pain. I will not disturb you after this.” He


    requested in a sweet voice and she looked at him in shock,


    The softness in his tone tickled her skin and she was forced to meet his gaze. He was waiting patiently


    for her to follow the orders.


    “If you say so sweetly, I might even think of giving my life.” She mumbled before doing what he said.


    And they both decided to act as if she never said that. Only at that moment.
