Chapter 9 (William)

    Chapter 9 (William)

Liam arrived in the ally an hour ago. He was in the middle of a meeting with a scientist from Hong Kong

when his sister had called. The news about re’s encounters was beyond unsettling, and had him

    storming out of the building.

He barely made it to a confined space before his fury reached his skin. Kalbreal was supposed to

watch over her. Liam never trusted the guy, always thought he was too young and tacky, but his sister

seemed to think different at the time. Now, not so much. Liam had no idea why he’d expected Kalbreal

to be able to keep re safe, but then he always had a soft spot for his sister and forgot how trusting

    she was.

Apse of judgement he had no intention of repeating.

Barely a week gone since he’d seen his princess. And two days since his sister had shadowed her and

already she was in danger. That of a mortal kind, not the immortals who were actually hunting her

down. To say he was having a bad day was understating it.

The one good thing that came from his day was the reason he was still dressed in a silver Armani suit

and ck Italian coat standing in an alley where he was certain deceptors used as a toilet going by the

stench of urine and other smells he was not going to acknowledge, or decipher. It was one of the few

ces he couldn''t be tracked to, the stench would put off almost anyone.

His ckyered hair blew in all angles as the wind swept through the narrow space. The two buildings

he stood between, housed street kids and a shelter for woman. He didn''t like the way the earth turned

out. He always helped, but being immortal, he wasn''t allowed to intervene enough to make a

difference. It was an unspokenw. To help the deceptors were to curse them. They needed to learn

from their mistakes. As long as they ruled with power and greed they would continue to fall. He just

hoped the deceptors learned differently before it was toote.

Sliding his hands in his coat pockets, waiting the minutes before his visitor arrived. An early arrival was

his small price at making sure he wouldn''t be tracked. Knowing the shady character he was dealing

with Liam wouldn''t put it pass the man.

It had taken days to track down anybody with some answers involving anything concerning re. And

extra days in making a decision when he barely scratched the surface about the young Lightwatcher.

But he was immortal with no regrets and until he knew for sure, he wasn''t taking chances with re’s

    life.

A shadow figure emerged from the smog on the ground. Just a little out of the dead-hour, when the

figure closed in toward the entrance of the dark narrow parting of the two run-down ts in Brooklyn.

Liam hated downtown in every state, but be it as it may, New York was the best ce for what had to

be done. He stopped a few steps in front of the male, “Do you have it?”

The man who confronted him was covered in a dark hooded coat, his identity hidden, withfort.

Which was the way Liam preferred it.

The man pulled out a ne from his coat pocket and wrapped it in a cloth before he handed it to

Liam, “When it’s done a blood vow willmence having my involvement erased from your mind and

all else that you know.” It wasn''t a request and the male knew it.

The mysterious figure lifted his head that remained covered from sight, “Can I ask why?” His tone

sounded of one who spoke of authority and power but luckily for him he knew to ask a question, not

    demand an answer.

Liam’s face brushed with a malicious smile of mystery, “I prefer to keep my involvement.. distant.”

The man argued, confusion creeping up, “Your sacrifice is anything but small if you wish to bed her…”

Liam raised his voice, his eyes sparkling with specks, as his true blue irises showed themselves

through his brown contact lenses, “BED her, I need no heroic acts to do such.”

His voice, deadpan as he admitted, “I’ve bedded enough woman. Emotion is a weakness I have never

encountered. She''s different from her kind, I want her alive and breathing, for now.”

“You keep my boy protected. You have my full discretions as you will it.”

Liam knew there was no guarantee that the male’s son would live but he had to promise. There was

too much going on that he needed to know, and unfortunately, this male was his primary source of

getting him the information he needed, like-

Who was killing the Lightwatchers and what was so special about his re that three millenniums of

tradition was broken. He didn’t want to bring his men in just yet, so he was left dealing with shady

characters. ying his hands too early would be a fools move and William ckwyll had never been

    foolish.

Once his princess was safe in his clutches, he would protect her at all cost, regardless of whether she

    agreed or not.

Focusing on the hooded figure he dismissed him, “I shall send word, until such, you have a task, you

would see it done.” The shadowy figure bowed before it transformed into smoke. His remains winding

its way like a moving cloud through the fog.

Liam turned and sped his hands behind his back. His mind already gxies away. When he heard

the hoot of a taxi, he knew exactly who it was.

Staring at the ne, he took the pendant out of his grey coat pocket. It was a t stone made with

yellow liquid that glittered in the inside, forming patterns of a cross. On its surface was gold crested

writing forming Angelic runes, which he recognized instantly,

    “Let’s hope I’m right mother, let’s hope I am.”

He walked to the end of the pavement and looked toward the sky. A spark of lightning sparked the

    clouds, and he smiled.

The door of the yellow cab opened just before he got there. Inside at the back of the cab sat a girl with

a red wig. Gazing onest time at the deadbeat sky, he slid into the cab. Thedy smiled at him, her

glee infectious as she removed the hideous wig she insisted on wearing. Once she shook out her dark

wavy blonde hair, she looked at him with her light green eyes, “Where to now?”

His mind made up and he sighed with dread, “South Africa.”

She looked confused and surprised but she couldn''t hide the smirk tipping her lips, “Why there? Why

now?” He touched her cheek, “Because sister. It’s time I summoned the Angel.”
