Chapter 1497 Into The Abyss

    Chapter 1497 Into The Abyss

Everything had been part of Braxton''s and Alfredo''s ns.

"Why did they choose me? Me of all people..." murmured Darren with a frown.

A supreme god and a peerless Defiant Master had both chosen him and left their most powerful and

    prized artifacts to him.

Why had they done that? To what end? No one knew the answer to that.

"Darren, he ising." The Rule Soul Avatar could sense that the man from the Immortal Land with

silvery eyes was already very close to the cemetery.

    "Let''s get the passage open."

Darren activated his three God Characters, while the Rule Soul Avatar activated his silvery eyes,

carefully opening the passage to the Source of Laws.

They appeared before Supreme God Braxton''s tomb. Both space and time were distorted here.

In front of Darren and the Rule Soul Avatar, appeared a dark passage, too dark to see whaty on the

    other side of it.

    "Let''s go!"

They both flew into the passage, not wasting any time.

The immense pressure in the passage made Darren feel as though he was about to explode.

But with the Rule Soul Avatar''s support, he recovered a little and was able to continue on.

The two of them quickly passed through the ck distorted space. A long whileter they finallynded

    on some solid ground.

"This is the Gottron Abyss," the Rule Soul Avatar announced as they both swiveled their heads around,

    taking it all in.

This dark world was arge mass of ck ridges, with a freezing wind whipping and piercing into them

like icicles on their skin. It was empty for the most part, but there seemed to be countless undead

creatures crying off in the distance, their voices lingering in Darren''s ears.

Darren and the Rule Soul Avatar eventually lost their sense of direction in this strange and gloomy

    world.

The abyss was too vast. How were they to know where to start their search?

"By the way, how did you manage to persuade Aunt Ynda to allow me to go into the abyss? Is it

anything to do with my tribtion when I break through to the Superior God Realm?" asked Darren

    curiously.

"Yes, I figured that if you break through in the abyss, it will reduce the impact of the tribtion on the

human race to a minimum," answered the Rule Soul Avatar.

"Really? How do you mean?" Darren asked, not entirely understanding how that would work.

"This abyss is the hometown of a chief god, and has thus been guarded by his divine spirit. If you are

to rise to the Superior God Realm here, the other chief gods would take issue with the chief god whose

hometown this is. Those are the same chief gods who want to find out everything about the human

race through you. So, with their attention diverted somewhat, your promotion to the Superior God

Realm would impact the human race less.

Besides, the god''s sense of the senior leaders of other races are unable to prate the abyss, so if

you were to break through here, they would not be able to find out the whereabouts of the whole

human race through you," the Rule Soul Avatar exined it briefly, as best he could. Truthfully, his

deductive process and analysis were much moreplicated than he revealed.

Darren now understood, at least the basics of the thought process.

If he entered the abyss, the impact on the human race would decrease but the danger he would be in

    would increase greatly.

But anyway, it was a good thing. It meant the senior leaders of the human race would not bother killing

    him.

"There''s something else I don''t understand. Thend of the human race is in the Primitive Wilderness.

Aren''t the other races and chief gods able to rush into it at any time? Why do they need to detect their

whereabouts through me?" This fact confused Darren. It seemed highly unnecessary to him.

Thend of the human race was close to both the fiend race and the Shura race. Why did they need to

use all sorts of obscure methods to find where the humans were, surely they knew by now?

In fact, Darren had once been captured by the fiend race, and Merle was still among the fiends.

The Rule Soul Avatar remained silent for a long while before he spoke again. "Darren, the truth is, the

world we live in is very likely not real."

He hade to this conclusion through much analysis and deliberation.

This new knowledge left Darren feeling enlightened and equally astounded. It took quite a while before

he was able to fully calm down.

"You mean to say our world is an illusion?"

"Yes, we, including those aliens, just exist in a consciousness space."

Darren''s mind was a mess. It seemed that this assumption answered all the questions he had, all that

    had him confused.

What the leaders of the other races and the chief gods were doing, was trying their best to locate the

real humannd. Thisnd they knew was just an illusion, formed by consciousness.

"Of course, this is just my guess," the Rule Soul Avatar reminded modestly.

By his deductions, it was impossible for any creature to maintain such a massive illusory system; even

the chief gods did not possess such incredible abilities.

Darren nodded in silence before pressing further, "If thisnd of the human race is illusory, then what

does that make us? We are not formed by consciousness. We''re real bodies of real flesh, and real

    blood flowing within us!"

There seemed to be a discrepancy with the theory. Darren and the others had entered the Primitive

Wilderness with both their bodies and souls. Could it be possible that they were the only exception who

could exist here with their bodies?

"Not necessarily," the Rule Soul Avatar responded indifferently.

"How do you figure?" Darren asked with raised eyebrows. "Do you mean that even we exist only in the

    form of consciousness?"

The Rule Soul Avatar did not respond. Instead, he looked up at the thick clouds off in the distance and

shook his head slightly. He too was confused, not entirely sure of the full truth.

Darren and the Rule Soul Avatar fumbled through the abyss, like two wandering souls, the only beings

existing in this lonely, empty world.

Darren now felt powerless and helpless, without direction.

    Crack...

They had been flying a long time before many bolts of lightning struck out of the thick clouds, their light

revealing a mountain shaped like a skull with every strike.

Constant roaring and frightening auras rang out from the mountain.

The sight of the mountain eased some of Darren''s confusion and helplessness.

This was the first time they felt the existence of other creatures since they had entered the abyss, but

their auras were odd and gruesome.

They moved towards it carefully and soon arrived at the foot of the skull-like mountain.

Even from afar, they could feel that there were numerous purple devils inside it. They looked simr to

the fiends of the outside world, but they all had long tails behind them.

There were tens of thousands of devils here, each with an auraparable to that of a fiend god or a

human at the Superior God Realm.

Obviously, they were only nobodies, nothing all that special.

    "Let''s go!"

With an explosive roar, all the devils rose into the air and flew off in one direction, like a swarm of

    locusts.

    "Follow them."

Darren flew behind the devils, hidden by the Rule Soul Avatar.

    They flew for two weeks.

It was only then that the tens of thousands of devils finally came to a stop.

The area they hadnded was a vast expanse. Because of the pervading purple mist, Darren and the

Rule Soul Avatar could not probe too far ahead. But they were able to make some things out with their

naked eyes. They spotted some huge skeletons as big as stars scattered in the area.

    "Wow! That''s one big guy!"

Dozens of kilometers ahead of them was a gargantuan skeleton that stood as high as ten million feet.

The purple devilsnded on the ground and moved forward in an orderly fashion.

They followed them all the way until they finally came to their destination.

In front of them, stood a sea of blood with two huge inds nestled in the center of it. This was what

Darren and the Rule Soul Avatar saw at first nce.

However, when they used their god''s sense, they could see clearly and discovered that there were

bodies of two giant creatures lying in the blood. The sea of blood was most likely the blood that had

flowed from the corpses of the giant creatures.

What Darren saw had shocked him into disbelief.

"What are they doing?" Darren asked, keeping his attention on the purple devils.

"Move them quickly. Or those guys wille!"manded a one hundred feet tall purple devil.

The ordinary purple devils all rushed over to the tworge corpses, cutting the dead giant beast with

    their sharp ws.

They then carried back huge pieces of beast meat.

"Turns out they''re just ants stealing food," Darren murmured, surprised and disappointed.
