Chapter 540 To See How Powerful the Demon Was

Chapter 540 To See How Powerful the Demon Was

Darren froze. What he had seen was inconceivable.

The Water Kylin had been killed with one blow?

"You bastard, how many hits have you given me?"

At that moment, the runes surrounding Finley vanished, and he stood up, opening his eyes.

Standing before him, Darren contended with a spell of dizziness.

Despite being the master of the Ancient Void Battlefield, he was not totally immune to the aura of

    suppression.

But he shook it off as best as he could. He wanted answers, and he wanted them now.

"What have you done?" he demanded. "Why did you kill him?"

Finley, however, seemed rxed. "Don''t worry, Darren. Here, watch this."

Saying this, he waved a hand, and a stream of deep green aura appeared, gathering over the Water

    Kylin''s remains.

As both men watched, the various pieces quivered, slid across the ground, and rejoined themselves.

Even the blood that had been spilled began to move, flowing back into the regenerating body.

"What... What is this skill?" Darren asked, his eyes bulging.

Impossible as it seemed, Finley was somehow bringing the Water Kylin back to life. Whatever power

he was using, it was clearly as incredible as it was disturbing to witness.

"Ah!" the Water Kylin said when he stood up atst. He did so slowly, unsteady. He couldn''t quite

    remember what had happened.

A shudder passed through him as his memories started falling into ce. "I was just dreaming. I

dreamed I was wandering alone somece cold and empty, endless. That was very unpleasant."

Seeming then to notice the other two men, he went on, "Ah, Finley, you''re awake as well.

Congrattions! You must be very powerful now, after the closed-door practice. To be honest, I was

worried as you were cultivating while unconscious. I kept needing toe by and sweep the dust off

your body. I am very relieved to see you awake again."

A smile grew on his face as he said all this.

"You don''t seem to remember what happened just now," Finley replied. "Here, let me help you."

With that, he pressed his hand to the beast''s forehead, restoring his memory of the past few moments.

"Damn it! You just pped me to death!" the Water Kylin snarled.

"Finley, I have cared for and treated you as a brother for all this time! But now you just killed me. For

that, you and I are through. Farewell." With that he turned and swiftly began to leave.

Things did not go as he wanted, however.

He''d hardly gone a stone''s throw when a huge hand appeared in midair and sent him sprawling to the

    ground with a smack.

When he got his senses back and lifted his head from the dirt, tears were in his eyes, and he grabbed

    at Finley''s legs.

"Finley, wait," he sobbed. "This was my fault. Please forgive me! I''m sorry!"

Finley was unmoved by the disy. "You''ve given me 1, 382 ps while I was in closed-door

cultivation. Do you really think I will forgive you just because you get on your knees and grovel like

    that?"

As the Water Kylin heard this, his heart almost lurched from his chest.

He thought for sure that Finley would beat him up now.

Not bothering to rise from the dirt, he slithered pathetically over toward Darren. "Master, please help

me! I have always been loyal to you. Plead with Finley and ask him to forgive me."

For a long moment Darren stared at the Water Kylin, repulsed by his behavior, and wondered why he

had chosen such a shameless creature as a subordinate.

"Forget about it," he said atst, though with some reluctance. "Finley, I need your help."

Finley gave the Water Kylin a good kick before turning back to Darren. "You want me to kill those

    creatures outside?"

"Yup," Darren said with a nod.

"Then I''ll go out and smash them right now. It''ll be a piece of cake." Finley rubbed his palms together in

    anticipation.

Before he could leave the cave, though, his ally stopped him. "Just wait a minute," Darren said. "First

I''d like to know what your cultivation level is now. And how did you bring the Water Kylin back to life

    after you had killed him?"

Finley smiledcently. He was always happy to exin why he was so good at something. "Ha-

ha, I am a seven-star grand warrior, and I''ve mastered the Life True Rule. If a dead person has a

back to life, provided I do it within fifteen minutes of his death."

Darren had seen a lot in his time, but what this man had aplished was truly amazing.

"You are very powerful indeed," he murmured.

"Don''t be jealous," Finley said calmly. "With the Assimtion Skill, you''re sure to catch up with me

    sooner orter."

Darren nodded. "All right. Well, let''s go to kill those ruthless creatures now." With that, he flew toward

the first space, with the other man close behind.

"Darren, that''s no ordinary cave. Be very careful," Finley said gravely. "Just a little exposure to its aura

is what gave me the Life True Rule. I have no idea who or what is really inside, except that it''s very

    powerful."

Keeping a level head, Darren replied, "I see. Once my force of control is powerful enough, I will explore

    the cave."

They continued their flight in silence for some minutes, surveying the devastation that had been

brought to the Ancient Void Battlefield.

Some of the ruthless creatures had already broken into the ninth space and killed the guardians there.

If no one stopped them, they could eventually prate the twelfth space and wreak even more havoc

    there.

When Finley was sick of watching them rampage, he turned into a ck shadow and charged into the

midst of them, fists flying. Thirty secondster, he''d pummeled more than a hundred ruthless creatures

    into dust.

Seeing that the other man had things well in hand, Darren decided to leave the Ancient Void Battlefield.

Before doing so, however, he reached out with his spiritual sense, looking for the Water Kylin. The

pitiful wretch was still crying and following Finley around, bowing and scraping as he asked for

    forgiveness.

"Someone needs to give you a good beating," Darren muttered as he withdrew his sense. "I''d better

leave now." Saying this, he did.

A short whileter, Anna turned up and eyed him curiously.

"Where have you been all this time?" she asked. "Did you go back to your world? I couldn''t find you

    anywhere here."

"It''s none of your business," Darren answered, deadpan as usual.

The girl snorted at that. For a change, she didn''t feel like harassing him at that moment.

She did, however, continue to follow him as he searched thendscape for time turbulent flows.

For a long time they said nothing to each other, but eventually Anna''s boredom got the better of her.

"Hey, do you need me to tell you where the time turbulent flows are?" she asked.

Darren raised an eyebrow at her. "How do you know that''s what I''m looking for?"

"Are you a moron? Of course I know. You need them so you can have more time for cultivation."

"All right, then," he said. "Where can I find the time turbulent flows?"

However, the rules allowed defeated guardians to refuse to answer this particr question.

"I don''t think I''m going to tell you," Anna said with an impishugh. "However, I can show you how

mighty the guardian of the fourth floor is. You''d better give up while you can, because your small world

is going to be sealed soon."

    Darren frowned at that. "Why?"

"Don''t look so surprised," she said. "You''re not allowed to open your small world in the Starry Tower.

You already opened it once, and the tower noticed, so it cut off the connection between you and your

small world. It wasn''t me who did it. I don''t have that kind of power."

"I see," Darren said slowly. He took a moment to check the Ancient Void Battlefield. Sure enough, he

found it sealed by a strange power. Whatever it was, he wouldn''t be able to open it.

As he came back to himself, Anna asked, "Do you want to see how powerful the demon is or not?"

"How are you going to show me that?"

"This is how." Anna''s hand waved in the midair and an image showed up.

It showed a young man, facing away from them, dressed in a white robe that fluttered in the wind. He

had his head tipped back to gaze at the sky and somehow looked very lonely.

"That''s supposed to be the demon?" Darren asked incredulously. It certainly wasn''t what he had

    imagined.

"Of course not. He is a martial artist at the top level of the five-star Grand Realm. Keep watching."

Saying this, Anna stood beside Darren and crossed her hands behind her back. A little smirk crept

    across her face.
