<h4>Chapter 1298: A Wolf In Front and a Tiger at the Back</h4>


    In the midst of blinding lights and on the line between life and death, Jiang Yi’s gaze became sharp. He looked around, looking for a way out that would save his life.


    Very quickly, his eyes brightened. Like a fierce tiger, he rushed toward the valley on his left. There was ake there, which disappeared suddenly underneath a hill. This meant that there was a secret river flowing under that hill. If he could follow that river underground and if that river underground was small, he would have a chance of survival.


    Swish!


    It took him a total of six seconds to get to the river. He shot inside immediately and swam along with the river current, into the small hill.


    Roar!


    The Chaos Beast let out a roar that shook the heavens. It was almost like something had exploded in Jiang Yi’s mind; his blood was rushing through his veins. He did not even have to look to know that the Chaos Beast was getting closer now. It was said that these Chaos Beasts were born out of heaven and earth. Their bodies naturally contained thews of heaven and earth. They could also activate all sorts of mystical abilities. Jiang Yi prayed secretly in his heart that the Chaos Beast’s mystical abilities would not be that powerful, or he would be in deep trouble.


    Hoo-hoo!


    Something happened that surprised and excited Jiang Yi. Once the Chaos Beast got within three thousand meters of Jiang Yi, it spat out a deep red fireball. The fireball burned everything it touched. It was hot beyondparison. Even the grass, flowers, trees, and bushes below the mountain were engulfed in the mes. The water in the river wherein Jiang Yi swam was evaporated rapidly as well, turning into white clouds, floating into the sky.


    Fire never scared Jiang Yi. The question was whether his Fire Spirit Pearl could withstand the fire of the Higher Domain. Jiang Yi did not know. He could only try his best to swim as fast as he could inside the water. He was pinning all his hopes on his Fire Spirit Pearl.


    The fireball as big as a cow’s head shot into the water. The water just thirty meters behind Jiang Yi turned into smoke. What was once a full river had be a dried-up river bed. Jiang Yi had begun by swimming, but he was now running.


    “Ha, it’s nothing!”


    The Fire Spirit Pearl gained a burst of energy all of a sudden, and an invisible shield came up around Jiang Yi’s body. What caused Jiang Yi to rejoice was that even as the fireball rushed toward him, it could not hurt him in the least. Instead, the Fire Spirit Pearl gained a significant amount of mes from this attack.


    “Sh*t, it’s moving so fast.”


    Just as Jiang Yi celebrated in his heart, he saw the winged Chaos Beast that looked like a white jade lion turned into a white sh, rushing toward him. He quickly sprinted away, using his Fire Dragon Sword to summon the Divinity yer at the same time.


    Tsk! Tsk!


    The Divinity yer was not very powerful when used in the Higher Domain. There was no divine thunder or lightning, and no waves wereing together around them. Heaven and earth spirit energy gathered into the Fire Dragon Sword and only caused ripples in space.


    However, the Divinity yer could still cause heaven and earth powers to suppress its enemies. The Chao Beast was significantly impeded. As the three fire dragons exploded on its body, the Chaos Beast was thrown back several meters. Several hairs on its head dropped off, but there was no wound. The Chaos Beast’s defensive powers were frightening.


    In that time alone, Jiang Yi already rushed into the river under the hill. He used both of his hands to congeal meteorites, but the underground river was extremely narrow. He was only able to congeal small stones, and ten or so of them at that. There was not much water left in the underground river because of the fireball. Jiang Yi kept running, locking his gaze on what was happening behind him.


    Hoo-hoo!


    Once again, a red fireball shot toward him. There was not much river water left already, but what was left of the water rose up into the sky as smoke. Jiang Yi could no longer see the road in front of him. The fireball hit his back and caused his body to fly forward, but his Fire Spirit Pearl absorbed all the mes from the fireball anyway. Jiang Yi was not at all hurt. Only his chest felt slightly tight.


    Roar! Roar!


    The Chaos Beast continued to chase him. Its body was about nine meters long, and it stood three meters tall. This underground river was obviously not tall enough, but the beast still used both of its ws to dig the ground. The soil of the underground river quickly fell away, and the beast managed to chase after Jiang Yi at a terrifying speed.


    “Meteorites, go!”


    As Jiang Yi ran, he controlled the meteorites and threw them at the Chaos Beast in order to slow it down. At the same time, his Fire Dragon Sword lit up. Three Fire Dragons flew toward the Chaos Beast, pushing it back several meters.


    “I will survive this!”


    Jiang Yi’s eyes brightened. This Chaos Beast could move several times faster than him. However, Jiang Yi could sprint forward,pletely unhindered. This Chaos Beast, on the other hand, had to use its sharp ws to break the soil in front of it in order to advance forward. This alone was already slowing it down. What’s more, as Jiang Yi activated his Meteorite Killing Formation and Divinity yer against the Chaos Beast, thetter was slowed down even more. Now, both of their speeds were more or less even.


    The Chaos Beast’s strongest attacks were useless against Jiang Yi. This was the reason he could survive. Otherwise, even if he had ten lives, all of them would have been used up.


    The hope of survival was motivating him to move forward at full force. As he sprinted as fast as he could, he kept congealing meteorites and activating the Divinity yer every five seconds. At every moment, hended one attack on the Chaos Beast, causing it to slow down.


    Roar-roar-roar!


    The Chaos Beast’s two huge eyes glowed in the darkness. They were filled with unparalleled anger and killing intent. From time to time, it would open its mouth and shoot a fireball at Jiang Yi. However, these were powerless against him. Jiang Yi’s attack could not injure the Chaos Beast’s body, but it could greatly affect its speed. The Chaos Beast was just like a huge lion chasing a rabbit. It could easily crush its prey, but the prey was moving too quickly into the bushes. The lion just had no way of eating it.


    The game of catch had begun!


    What was most frustrating to Jiang Yi was that this Chaos Beast really was not that intelligent. It could not catch up with him, and yet it refused to give up. It kept running after him for a full hour. Although Jiang Yi managed to keep a three-hundred-meter distance between them, the Chaos Beast kept threatening toe closer.


    “If the underground river bes a proper river up ahead, I will be a dead man.”


    Jiang Yi was starting to get worried. Unless this river remains underground, he would be in danger. He tried his hand at the soil in Earth Emanations Domain before. It was much more solid than the soil in Stersky Domain. Although he could break it, he was much slower at doing so. If the river no longer ran underground, he would have to dig a passageway to run through. Then, he would die for sure.


    The good thing was that the underground river was winding downward. At least in the short-term, it would not go outward. Jiang Yi had no other choice but to grit his teeth and keep running.


    Hoo-hoo!


    The Chaos Beast was still spitting fireballs. Jiang Yi’s Fire Spirit Pearl was almost half-full now. Naturally, he was not going to use fireballs to attack the Chaos Beast. The mes belonged to the beast after all; it would do no damage to it.


    “Eh?”


    After traveling tens of kilometers, the river in front suddenly seemed to swerve downward. What’s more, it seemed to be getting more and more steep. The river itself was getting wider as well. What had been worrying Jiang Yi was finally happening. The river seemed to be changing in front. For all he knew, an undergroundke would appear. Once the Chaos Beast was free to move, he would die for sure.


    He had to think of something.


    A few minutester, the river became about three hundred meters wide. Although it was still only a meter and a half or so tall, there seemed to be explosive soundsing from in front. Jiang Yi was sure that there was an undergroundke there.


    Bang!


    Indeed, after traveling another three kilometers, Jiang Yi’s body suddenly fell downward, into an undergroundke, which he could not see the end. The Chaos Beast was following closely behind him. Its glowing, green eyes resembled the lights of a killing machine!


    Roar!


    At that exact moment, a low roar echoed from inside the undergroundke. The undergroundke began to stir, and another beast shot out of the water. Its entire body was ck, and it seemed to be glowing blue. Jiang Yi scanned it and immediately frowned deeply. It was yet another Chaos Beast!
