Chapter 6: 6. Their Assignment


    They hurriedly ran through the way. They felt so happy when they got to their home.


    Ze went to her room and kept her bag  beside her drawer, stretched her arms and then sat on her


    bed. A chill passed down her spine when she thought of that dark forest. ''I hate this town and that


    forest'' she mumbled.


    She went to washroom, and sshed some cold water on her face. Then she took a hot bath and


    changed her clothes into a loose blue pants and ck T-shirt with the words ''Make me smile'' written on


    it . She was going through the chapters they had learned in ss earlier and when she got to the


    chapter of Romeo and Juliet, she recalled Lance''s body structure and his face. She sighed, dreaming


    about him.


    She got out her phone and texted Eli;


    Ze- Hi, I need your help.


    Eli- Yupppp, what do you want my dear?


    Do you want me to give me the details about your new crush?


    Ze- OMG, how did you know I have a crush?


    Eli- That''s why I''m your best friend.


    Ze rolled her eyes and typed-


    -You know Percy must have told you.


    Eli- Yesss


    Ze- There is nothing like that Eli. He''s just an asshole who stares a lot


    Let me tell you why I messaged you, I need a hand for my assignment.


    Eli- Yeah sure,e over today. Let us finish it.


    Ze- Not today, during the weekend.


    Eli- Ok then, bye take care.


    Ze- Yeah, bye.


    Ze plugged her phone in to charge and went out to the garden for some fresh air. She enjoyed the


    calming effect the breeze had on her.


    "Ze.. babye inside" Mrs Christi called Ze


    Ze went inside. Meanwhile someone was still spying on her from the bushes and was watching her


    go inside.


    They all sat in a round table having their dinner and talking about how their day went.


    "How was your day kids"Mr christi asked." Awesome as always" Zad answered.


    "My day was good. I met a strange guy today. He is a nerd but he acts a little weird" Ze said


    "Ohh, my child is into someone " Mrs christi grinned while serving food to everyone.


    "No mom, its just that he is weird."


    "Is that so?" Her dad cocked his brow and forked his food.


    "Dad..."she rolled her eyes.


    She quickly finished her food, ending the conversation, bade each other goodnight and went back to


    bed.


    Ze slid the curtain of her balcony, her memory shed with the images of the dark forest and the girl


    who was being killed. She sat on her bed and finally drifted off to sleep.

    "Lance can you pass me that book that has a chapter on heridity." Ze asked politely.


    He hands over the book and his hands brushed hers briefly, she had sh when her skin touched his."


    He turned aside, his eyes changing its color from ck to blue.

    She gasped from her bed, startedughing when she realized it was a dream.She got up and went to


    brush her teeth. She had the feeling that something new would happen. She took a cute floral gown


    which was till her knees. She tamed her curls and went downstairs.


    "Mom, where is Zad?" Ze enquired.


    "He is sick dear. I have to take him to the hospital. Dad told me to take himter in the afternoon. His


    temperature is high. "


    "Okay mom, take care of him. I''m leaving" Ze left home after having her breakfast. Since Mr Christi


    had stopped dropping them off and Zad was sick, she had to walk alone today.


    She reached school and entered into ss. Her eyes were searching for Lance, she walked to him "Hi


    I''m Ze christi" Ze introduced herself to Lance . He raised his head from the book to look at her and


    stared at her locket. There was a sudden change in his eye color which was not noticeable,it changed


    back to ck again. She was waiting for a reply but then the teacher entered into the ss. Staring at


    him she walked to her ce.


    " Hi everyone." professor Liya greeted.


    "Good morning Professor." the students greeted.


    "Today, I''m giving you a new assignment and you have to submit it by tomorrow." professor announced.

    Everyone  started to look each other and mumble.


    "Listen. You all have to find about heredity and DNA transfer from ancestry to theing generation"


    she continued " its a group of two, you will be graded ording to your performance, make partners for


    yourself and give me the names." she paused for a while and pointing Lance she said "since Ze is


    new here, Lance you be her partner and help her. Ze, I expect only the best from you."


    Ze widened her eyes, memories shed, the dream came real.


    Everyone turned to stare at Ze as if she was a deer trapped in a lion''s cage. Percy and Eli bumped


    her shoulders and grinned, she started blushing. After a while, the teacher was done with the ss and


    walked out.


    "So I and Percy will be partners" Eli held Percy''s hand and said.


    "That''s awesome" Ze said. "But guys I saw thising."


    "What!" They both growled.


    "Hi im Lance Peterson, nice to meet you. Tomorrow is thest day to submit so I guess we should go to


    library now". Lance said this from behind in a very hoarse voice.


    "Oh okay, lets go then." Ze said in a surprised tone.


    Both of them went through the hallway.And stood in-front of a big gigantic door. Lance scanned his id


    and they both entered into the library. The library was huge and there were different sections for


    different topic. There is a separate room were nobody was allowed to enter except Mr. Peterson and


    his family. It was their family library room. So Ze and Lance went near the science section. While


    going Ze scanned all the sections, it was huge and each contain thousands of books.


    She saw fiction section next to the science section. Her eyes were on those books aligned in fiction


    section.


    "let''s sit here" Lance said gently.


    They both sat near the gics books shelf.They went through many books which described about


    gics and DNA, they discussed about it and started to prepare their assignment.


    "So, you are a nerd?" she asked with a curiosity.


    His brow furrowed as his mouth turned grim. Then he went through the book.


    "Why don''t you mingle with anyone?" she questioned him.


    " Is that troubling you ?" he said that in a high tone.


    She cocked a brow in surprise.


    " Then why did you stare at me yesterday in the cafeteria ?" Ze asked this with a sharp voice.


    "Are you imagining things. I have never been into cafeteria." Lance replied


    She was shocked by hearing this " I saw you yesterday." she mentioned


    "I told you that I have never even visited the cafeteria." he argued.


    "Then who was that?" Ze asked this in a low voice with little tension in her face.


    "Can''t we discuss about the topic?" He said this harshly deviating from what she had said.


    There was silence for a minute until it was broke by Lance taking up some other book and dumping it


    on the table.


    Ze got up from her ce and went to fiction section and took ''vampire diaries'' and came back to her


    ce. Lance was so curious to know why did she took that book. He watched her silently. After thinking


    deeply Lance asked Ze "why did you take that book?"


    Ze replied innocently "I love vampire stories... My grand mom used to say a lot of stories about


    vampires and humans.. even romance between them." She grinned and whispered e closer"


    Lance leaned his head due to curiosity, he never been close to anyone in this school before.


    She continued "you know what, she used to believe that vampire was real. And she would warn me


    every time that someday vampires wille behind me, chasing me, and I have to stop them with all


    my strength and power."
