Chapter 33- Amara


    As soon as I was out of the door, I started taking deep breaths. How the hell can they expect this from


    me? I know it is bound to happen someday but this is way too early and forceful. Asher didn''t even say


    anything about it. Maybe he is bound to follow the rules. He should have at least filled me in a little.


    Well that would have at least prevented the rude things I said to them. I would havee prepared. Oh


    my god! I just shouted and disrespected my mate’s parents. Well I can’t do anything about it now. I will


    apologizetter. I don''t want to go home right now. Aaron''s car is still here. Should I call him? Let''s give


    it a try. I dialled his number and he picked up immediately.


    ''Hey'', I said.


    ''Hi. What''s up?'' he sounded a bit scared. Something is wrong.


    ''You are at Carter''s right. What''s going on over there?''


    ''Yeah. I will tell youter.'' He said hastily.

    ''Are you alright Amy?'' he asked worried.


    ''Yes. I am fine. I was thinking, would you like to go to the beach, if you are free that is?'' I asked.


    ''I actually was going to ask you the same thing.'' Umm okay. Something is definitely wrong.


    ''Really?''


    ''Yup. There is a lot on my mind right now. Where are you? I will pick you up.''


    ''Actually I am outside Asher''s house.'' I said sheepishly.


    ''Okay. Get in the car right now. I am sneaking out of here. My car isn''t locked.'' Sounds wereing in


    the background of someone mming their fists on a door.


    ''You sound like we are running away.'' What did he do now?


    ''Something like that. Get in the driver''s seat. You know how to drive right?''


    ''Yes.''


    ''Speed out as soon as I enter the car.'' The banging got harder.

    I cut the call and looked at Asher''s house. He didn''t evene to check up on me. Well got to get used


    to disappointment. I opened the driver''s side of the door and got in. The key is already in the ignition.


    This guy can be really irresponsible. Aaron came out of Carter''s house running like his ass is on fire


    and got in the passenger side.


    "Go. Go. Go." he shouted.


    I turned the car and saw a very angry Cartering out of the house. Aaron''s eyes widened in horror.


    OMG Aaron, what the hell did you do? I can get the detailster. Carter said something but I didn''t hear


    it. I pressed my foot on the elerator and we dashed out towards the beach. Once we were on the


    cliff, I released the breath I didn''t know I was holding. That was downright crazy. I don''t even know why


    we ran away from there like that. I turned my head towards Aaron and he was looking at me already.


    We burst out inughing fits.


    "Why the hell were we running? Did you step on his tail or what?" I joked but I wanted to know what


    happened.


    "I did not step on his tail. I wouldn''t dare. Let me rx a little please. We should go sit and rx first.


    Cliff or beach?" he said sighing.


    "Beach"


    "Let''s go."


    We climbed down the hill and sat on a log on the beach. Thank god it isn''t raining right now.


    "So......." I dragged. He sighed loudly. This guy sighs a lot.


    "After school I got a call from Carter saying he wants to talk about something important. So I went


    there.” He paused looking troubled. Did that bitch hurt my friend? “He told me about the pack rules


    about marriage and stuff. He said that we have to get engaged this week no matter what. And we will


    get married when both of us are eighteen. I don''t want to get married or engaged this soon. I mean he


    can''t just force me into this. My life has not even started properly yet. I respect his traditions but that


    doesn''t mean he can make me ept them. We fought and I refused to get engaged this soon.


    Hopefully no one was home. He said that I will not leave his house without getting engaged to him and


    then I have to move in with him. He went inside to call his parents I think. He thought I will follow his


    orders like I am his little bitch but I didn’t. When he went inside his room to get his phone, he shut the


    door for privacy or that’s what it looked like. That''s when you called. I locked the door. He was banging


    on the door but I ran out. You know what happened next." He finished looking at his hands.


    "Holly shit!! He was making you marry him without your consent. What is with those shifters forcing


    people to marry?" I spat angrily.


    "Yup. I don''t want to talk about it right now. What about you? Did Asher forced you as well?" he asked


    furrowing his brows.


    "Yeah something like that. Not him exactly but his parents were implying that I go by the rules. Asher


    didn’t say a word in all this. After you left Asher took me to his ce. I met his parents. They


    interviewed me." He snickered "I mean it, they literally interviewed me. Then all of a sudden they asked


    when we are getting engaged. His father and I had a really bad shouting match."


    "Geez what''s with these people and marriages?" he askedughing but I saw the troubled look on his


    face.


    "Anyways, I told them I haven''t thought about it yet. So they told me that I am supposed to get engaged


    to Asher this week and married when I turn eighteen. Asher didn''t even say a word on all this. I


    refused. Obviously. So his father dered that I will get engaged to him this Sunday. I got angry. I


    refused to follow his orders quite rudely and stormed out of the house. Asher didn''t evene to check


    up on me. Then I called you and here we are." I finished. I felt a pang in my heart when I said his


    name.


    “Do you think they will make us marry forcefully?” Aaron asked scared.


    “Don’t worry. I won’t let that happen to us.” I assured him.


    Aaron swung his arm over my shoulder and pulled me close. I rested my head on his shoulder. We sat


    there like that watching the waves for a while.


    "Amy will theye after us?" Aaron said breaking the silence.


    "I don''t think Asher will but Carter will definitelye to find you." I hope Asheres too. I think I am

    "Nahh he won''t.", I lifted my head form his shoulder and looked at him.


    "He cares for you Aaron. I won''t be wrong to say he loves you already. Marriage is a hugemitment.


    If he is ready to marry you any moment, proves that he really loves you. Talk to him. He might


    understand your views about it. If he hurts you thene straight to me. I will beat the shit out of him."


    I said seriously.


    He chuckled," Yeah I will try. What about you? Isn''t it the same?"


    "Nahh. He never stood up for me nor did he try to confront me himself about the rules like Carter.


    Today I felt like, he just wants to marry me because of the rules. He didn''t even say anything when his


    father was almost shouting at me. He didn''t evene to talk to me when I walked out of his house. I


    know he came to school to see me. He even said he loved me.” I said looking down. “But after that he


    took me to his parents without any warning. They were ordering me like I am some lowlife who is


    bound to follow their orders. Asher didn''t object nor did he said a word. It felt like the kiss and that


    sweet talk was just a bait, so I will follow him willingly."


    "Hey don''t think like that. Maybe they just got carried away. Everything will be alright." Aaron said


    smiling at me. I know he is trying to lift my spirit but this doesn’t seem to be working right now. I feel


    betrayed. I don’t know why. But in the back of my mind it feels like there is more to Asher than this.


    "I hope so too. But if he doesn''t want me as a person and is with me just because he has to be as I am


    his mate, then I will leave. I will go somewhere far away and start a new life. Just one and a half year till


    I turn eighteen. No one can restrict me then. I will graduate next year anyway so I can go to college


    too." I said trying to convince myself that everything will be fine.


    "Amy think it through before you act. I won''t stop you from anything. I just want you to be happy. Talk to


    Asher and get to know what he wants. Don''t make any rational decisions. Okay?" he said seriously.


    "Yup." I agreed.


    Somewhere in my heart I want him to stop me from leaving.
