Chapter 28- Amara


    When did he even get there? I just want to sleep. Why won’t he let me do that? I opened my eyes to


    look at him. He looked mad but something else was evident in his eyes. Hurt. That’s confusing actually.


    Why is he hurt?


    “Her mate marked someone elsest night. I helped her through it as she was in a lot of pain.” Steven


    exined before I can even open my mouth.


    “You slept with her?” Austin said raising his voice.


    What the hell is wrong with this one?


    “Yeah. That was the only way.” I interjected quite snappily. “The pain was excruciating.”


    He flinched. He looked at me weirdly for a second then moved his eyes to Steven.


    “Well don’t you look happy.” He said to him in a very mean tone.


    What is he on about? What’s his problem?


    “I am.” Steven replied. I can feel him getting angry as his chest rumbled a little with a suppressed


    growl. “She healed me.”


    “WHAT?” That came from the front door of the apartment.

    “What does he mean by you healed him? Tell me the truth Amy. What is going on over here? Do not lie


    to me this time.” Aaron said marching towards us.


    He looked at me then moved his eyes to Steven and red at him. How much did he hear? He smelled


    strongly of booze.


    “I healed him this morning and I am feeling a little tired. Okay! I feel exhausted but other than that I am


    absolutely fine.” I replied sighing in exhaustion.


    I want to sleep so bad. Stevenbed my hair with his fingers gently. That feels good.


    “You didn’t pass out. Well that’s a progress.” Aaron said “And what did he mean by your mate marking


    someone else?”


    I stiffened. Here goes nothing.


    “Well.” I startedughing nervously. “It started on Asher’s birthday. You remember I was getting weird


    chest pains and I was feeling sick?” he nodded. “That was because Asher was cheating on me.” I


    gulped looking at Aaron. He looked mad. “I won’t go into details now. I don’t have much energy left.


    Well after I woke, I went to Greycoast to see papa as he said he was dying.” He gasped in pure pain. “I


    didn’t knew that Asher was cheating on me at that point. Cassidy and Grayson came with me. Of


    course they knew about it. Them being a witch and a warlock” His eyes widened in surprise. “Steven


    didn’te with us as he is not allowed on the packnds as he is a vampire.” He opened his mouth


    but I cut him before he can speak.

    “So is Austin. When I got there, papa knew instantly what was going on and so did Ryder. They were


    on blood lust but the pain started again and me being so close to Asher didn’t help at all. I woke up in


    the morning to find that papa was inside me, helping me heal as Asher’s doing would have killed me as


    I am a human. I met Asher in the morning to find him in the bed naked with a girl.” Aaron’s fist clenched


    in anger. “He obviously med everything on me. When I said that we are over and left, he panicked.


    He was angry and charged on me. Caleb and Carter tried to protect me but he hurt them.” I heard


    Aaron’s breath hitch.


    “Before Asher can do anymore damage, Leo tackled him down. The twins are alright. Tyler took over


    and mauled Asher but I stopped him from killing him. He demoted Asher from the third inmand


    position. Ryan is the new third inmand. His parents were in on it too so they were punished as


    well.” I yawned widely and pressed myself into Steven’s chest and closed my eyes. His arms tightened


    around me and he pecked my forehead.


    “We came back here. I didn’t feel much pain since then butst night I woke up with my body burning. I


    reached out to Steven and he called Cassidy for help. He was marking someone else so his venom


    from the mark he gave me was burning out of my blood. Like it was literally burning out. That’s why I


    look scorched. Cassidy said there is only one way to reduce the pain and Steven helped me with it. In


    the morning I wanted to heal him but I was weak. My hands tingled and I knew what was happening.


    So I focused my energy on his heart and healed him. I didn’t pass out but I feel terrible now. Do you


    mind if I sleep please?” I asked opening my eyes and looking at his horrified face.


    “You were going through all this and you didn''t even tell me?” Aaron looked hurt.


    “I didn’t want to drag you into my mess. Besides you were so happy. I didn’t want to rain my misery on


    your life.” I exined.


    “We will talk about thister. Rest first. Come on.” He said giving me his hand.


    I didn’t want to. Steven had a tight hold on me. A very possessive one.


    “How about I sleep here for now. I don’t think I will be able to climb up the bunk.” I said to him


    apologetically.


    He looked at me suspiciously and then nodded grinning like a fool. Okay! He clearly got the wrong


    idea. I don’t know what’s the wrong idea anymore. I managed to grin back at him. Steven stood up with


    me hanging on to him like a ko bear. All this while Austin was awfully quite. I looked at him to find


    him frozen in his ce.


    “Austin are you okay?” I asked but he was in his own world.


    “Austin.” I called quite loudly.


    Still he stayed like that. Aaron nudged him. He looked startled beyond measure.


    “What?” he asked looking at us.


    His eyesnded on Steven and me. He looked quite bothered. Woebegone actually.


    “I asked if you are okay. You looked frozen in ce.” I said.


    “Yeah I am fine.” He replied with a fake smile.


    Something was clearly bothering him. An ache had started to build behind my eyes and in the


    forehead. I will ask about itter. I nodded and buried my face in Steven’s chest. He turned around and


    made his way towards his bedroom. Heyed me on the bed and pulled the cover over me. He looked


    disturbed though.


    “Are you alright?” I asked.


    He nodded but his face said otherwise.


    “Don’t lie Steven.”


    He shook his head. I opened my arms and heid on me with his head on my chest.


    “What is bothering you?” I askedbing his hair with my fingers.


    I felt him rx.


    “I don’t want to lose this.” I knew he was referring to us.


    “Then don’t.”


    “But Austin really likes you. It feels like I am betraying him.” He mumbled.


    “But I like you.” I blurted out.


    He lifted his head from my chest and looked at me making me blush.


    “Really?” he asked grinning.


    I nodded hiding my face with my palms. He pried my hands off of my face and looked at me in so much


    fondness making me blush even more. He looked happy. He moved till his face was right above he and


    lowered his lips to mine. He kissed me so passionately that it felt like my insides were melting. He


    pulled away after some time and rested his forehead on mine. He was grinning widely. He kissed me


    one more time and flipped us so I was lying on his chest.


    “Close your eyes. You are tired.” He said encircling me in his arms.


    “Once I am back to normal, I will heal him too.” I mumbled closed my eyes.


    He was stroking my back lightly with his fingers. It felt really good. He hummed in reply. As soon as I


    closed my eyes, I was out like a light.
