    Nyx''s pov


    The servants came forward to continue their tasks but no one came to me. I just sat there with


    folded arms as everyone got help in getting their tes filled. I salivated at the sight of the food and


    the aroma made it more appetizing which made me hungrier.


    "Let me help you dear." It was the cook, was she there all this while? I didn''t want her to help me,


    she would do something terrible again.


    She reached across the table, took a bowl of very hot and ptable soup.


    "Thank you." I mumbled as she brought it before me to ce it on the table but it wasn''t ced on


    the table. She dropped it in myp and the hot content poured on my dress, seeping through it and


    burnt my skin.


    I tried not to scream at the pain but it wasn''t sessful. All heads turned towards me in annoyance.


    I tried to fight the tears back as my hands were fisted to by side.


    "Oh my Goddess." She shrieked like she genuinely pitied me, "I am so sorry." She mocked


    apologised, "Do you want me to help you clean that?"


    "No." I croaked trying to clean up my messed up dress with a napkin I had grabbed.


    "Tracy." Lycus growled at her.


    "Oh Darling." The Beta interjected touching his arm, "It was just a mistake, right mother?" She


    looked up at her mother, the cook with a pout.


    "Yea Alpha." The cook said, "It was a mistake."


    "You may take your seat." He gritted and she left to sit at the other side of the table after throwing


    me a sinister smirk.


    yeap! She pulled that stunt of purpose.


    I wondered what position she held apart from being the cook for her to have a seat at the table for


    high rankings.


    Everyone began to eat and I reached out to a tray of steak on the table picked one with the huge


    fork and ce it on my te and then I took two more pieces. I took some mashed potatoes too


    and some sauce.


    "I wonder where all the food goes after eating like a glutton not like you are gonna add up flesh


    anyway." The Beta said causing everyone to erupt inughter except Lycus. He just stayed silent


    eating his meal.


    Theughter soon died down and I started eating silently taking small bits as I still felt the icy re


    of the Beta on me. As the breakfast went on I couldn''t deal with taking small bits, I was hungry. I


    began to take big bits stuffing my mouth as I ate, I felt more satisfied this way.


    Lycus gazed at me with an amused look on his face.


    "What a pig." The Beta said, "No table manners, can''t even control her loud chewing and wide


    mouth in the presence of people above her."


    I blocked out her words, trying not to pay attention to her as I picked up my ss of water and took


    a gulp.


    I belched and I could have swore I heard Lycus chuckle lightly as every other upant of the table


    apart from willow red at me.


    "Your highness." One of the older men at the table said, "The matter of you finding your mate is still


    left unanswered." The man said and I froze, "The pack needs a luna and the entire werewolf


    community needs a Queen luna."


    "He is right your highness." Thedy who had spoken to me rudely earlier on when I first came in


    talked, "A king is nothing without is Queen and everyone is talking about you being mateless,


    something needs to be done about it."


    Lycus was silent, I gazed at him waiting for him to say something admiring his features as I did. He


    was gorgeous and the only thing on my mind was running my hands through his locks as he kissed


    me deeply. The more I stared at his face, the more I got more attracted and I wanted him to kiss me


    badly.


    I wished he would.


    "Stop staring at my future mate like you want to fuck him!" The Beta snapped at me bringing me out


    if my hex.

    "Have you found your mate my King?" Anotherdy asked and my breath hitched as I awaited his


    reply.


    "No." He said and my face fell. I turned back to my food. He really wanted nothing to do with me,


    here he was lying to everyone in my presence that he hadn''t found me.


    "Then you must take one your highness." Thedy said, "You aren''t getting any younger, you need


    a heir, the pack needs a luna and themunity needs a Queen."


    "As you know…" The Beta trailed off butting into the conversation, "Lycus and I are nning on


    mating soon."


    I choked coughing out loud gasping for air as I snatched my drink.


    "Are you okay sweetie?" She purred at me, "Is something wrong?"


    I took gulps of water while trying to process what I had just heard, no! He couldn''t possibly do this!


    Why keep me here if he wanted her?


    I waited for him to counter her statement, to say that she was lying but nothing came forth. He didn''t


    even utter a single word.


    "And when will the date be? The date of the mating ceremony?" Her mother asked excitedly.


    "We haven''te up with one yet." Lycus said.


    "But we will soon." The beta ced a hand on his smiling at him and he smile back. My heart broke


    at the sight.


    The meal continued and everyone was back to their food and back to silence. I ate my food quietly


    hoping that the silence remains this way and no one brings up another conversation or talks to me.


    "Do you ever stare at yourself in the mirror Nyx?" The Beta suddenly asked and I looked up at her,


    "You somewhat strange from others." She said, "What was that word again? Ugly!"


    "Laya!" Lycus gritted at her, "Enough!"

    "Excuse me." I said standing up with tears falling from my eyes, I couldn''t take it anymore, I ran out


    of the dining hall away from them without ever ncing back.

    I wiped the tears off my face on hearing the knock at the door. I stood up from the bed, the


    bedsheets were wet from my constant tear flow. I walked to the door to answer it.


    It was the nanny. She had brought Amara.


    My baby jumped into my arms, "I missed you so much baby."


    "I missed you too." I hugged her tightly, "Thank you." I smiled at the nanny before locking the door


    and going back into the room.


    Amara and I spent less time with each other ever since we came here and I hated it. She


    was on the floor holding fluffy as I sat on the bed braiding her hair and telling her a story.


    "And so she married the prince and he took care of her and loved her. They lived happily ever after."


    I said, "The End!" We both said coincidentally with giggles.


    "Mummy, would we be like them living happily ever after?" she asked.


    "Yes baby." I smiled at her without being sure that we could have a happy ending.


    "I hope you find your prince soon." She said and I smiled sadly having nothing to say to her.


    A knock sounded in the door again and I went to check who it was. To my surprise it was willow, the


    girl from breakfast.


    After exchanging greetings, I let her in and we began to talk.


    I liked her. I could see a friend in her already.


    "I am so sorry Nyx." She said, "You do not deserve what happened at breakfast today."


    "It''s okay." I shrugged finishing up Amara''s hair.


    "Would you like to go out?"


    "Yes!" Amara squealed.


    "Where to?" I asked Willow, "The Alpha doesn''t want me going out, I don''t want any trouble."


    "Ohe on, we are just going to the mall." She said, "You are his guest not his prisoner."


    Amara turned to me with a pout, "Mommy say yes please? Say yes!"


    The ride to the mall was short. We got down from the car and headed into it. It was


    huge. I held Amara closely as I felt uneasy. I wasn''t used to being in public ces and being in


    large crowds.


    "Can we leave now?" I asked Willow.


    "Ohe on." She said dragging my hand and pulling me into the crowd, "We have got a lot of


    shopping to do."


    "But, I don''t have any money."


    "Bills on me!"


    I was really tired from walking around and it was time to go home. We got into the car


    and I couldn''t stop thanking Willow over and over again.


    She had gotten us a lot of stuff. She got lots of toys for Amara and I picked a few clothes that


    actually fit me.


    She drove us back to the pack house and we crept in silently the same way we had crept out.


    "Thank you so much for today." I said again and she hugged me.


    "It''s okay Nyx." She smiled at me, "We would be hanging out a lot now cause we are besties!"


    Besties! I had never had a best friend before, "Yeah." I nodded at her not knowing what to say.


    "Bye! See youter!" She hugged me one more time before running out of the room.


    "I am going to y with my toys outside mommy." Amara gave me a peck and left the room too.


    I smiled at her as she left.


    I closed to door and went to ce the stuff I had gotten in the empty closet. I locked it and turned


    back only to see Lycus standing in the room staring at me.


    I shrieked in fright.


    "What are you doing here?" I asked him.


    "It''s my castle." He snorted, "I go where I want."


    I nodded at him not moving from where I was.


    "You went out Nyx."


    I gulped, I was in trouble, "I am sorry."


    "That''s not why I am here either way." He said, "I am here because of the request you made thest


    time." He said before I could ask the reason why he was here.


    "Okay…."


    "Do you really want you dear Andros to be released?"


    "Yes." I mumbled.


    "I will grant your wish."


    "Thank you." I was excited, "Thank you so much."


    "But on one condition." He said and I looked at him as he walked closer to me. He was standing


    before me now, towering over me and he was close, way too close.


    "What is that?" I asked.


    "I want you to kiss me Nyx."
