Chapter Fourteen

It took me what felt like hours but was only minutes to calm down as I took in deep breaths of the
summer air and Mkai''s scent. He had dressed me in a dark red knitted jumper belonging to him prior
to carrying me away from the house, I clung tightly to him with my face in his chest and my bare legs
over hisp, while held me in his arms now sitting down somewhere.
When I fully came back to my senses, I lift my head looking around to find we were swinging back and
forth on a ck metal bench lined with soft white cushions, that was bolted to the ceiling of a rustic
looking stone gazebo surrounded by apple trees, bushes with multicoloured flowers and small
strawberry nts. The sky is still dark somehow, the moon is full and shining brightly, apanied by
the stars.
" Where are we? And how is it still dark out? " I whisper.
" We''re still on my grounds, just away from the house. And it''s still dark because you were passed out
for the entire day. " Mkai mumbles back to me, stroking my hair in a calming manner. " Are you
going to tell me what happened back there? "
I bite my lip, knowing I''d have to at least somewhat exin my episode. " I.. I''ve been running from
some people..I can''t tell you who..and I''ve had to do somethings that I also can''t tell you.. I guess
thinking about what Josephine did just.. " My mind is fuzzy as I try to exin, but when I mention
Josephine doing something he freezes.
" What did she do? " He asks.
" I.. " I trail off, not knowing what to do.
" Cori, what did she do to you? " He grounds out.
Hesitantly, I bring my eyes up to meet his and I begin to recall hering into the bathroom. I watch as
his blue eyes turn pitch ck throughout my telling of what happened, veins move down his under eyes
and his fangs make an appearance. Without a word, he gently lifts me off of him to sit me down on the
cushion beside him, he then stands up and starts stalking off, my guess is back toward the house.
Jumping to my feet, I rush after him. Within minutes we are back at the house, walking over the stream
and up onto the porch, where Mkai swings open the door so roughly that the ss shatters into a
million little pieces, earning every vampire''s attention in the room.
" Where is she? " He hisses out. " Josephine. WHERE IS SHE?! "
The vampire''s surrounding us seem either to flinch at Mkai''s anger or take a step back, I on the
other hand walk towards him and cautiously ce a hand under his shirt and on his back. He rxes
ever so slightly, until she walks into the roomughing about something with Phoenix.

Phoenix notices the shattered ss and furious looking brother first, hisughtering to a halt
immediately. " What''s going on, Brother? "
Mkai doesn''t answer, instead he is across the room and pinning Josephine to the wall by her neck
with such a force that the wall cracks, little bits of dust and stone fall onto the ground, this all happens
without anyone having a chance to blink. " How fucking dare you! " he shouts.
Josephine''s eyes are wide as her heel covered feet dangle off the ground. " Mal, put me down. " She
wheezes out.
" Why would I after what you''ve done? "
" I don''t know what you''re talking about. " She tells him.
" Maybe I should drown you to refresh your memory! " He roars, realisation clicks in her eyes which
then flicker to me then back to him. " She is my beloved ! How DARE YOU! "
" Please Mal, I''m sorry. Please stop this! " She begs.
" You apologise to Corinna and you do it NOW. " He tighten his hold on her neck, forcing her further
against the wall, making it crack more.
" I''m sorry! " She chokes out.
" Look at her! " Mkai roars, seeming like he''s seconds away from snappingpletely.
Her fear struck eyes meet my shocked ones. " I''m so sorry Corinna. "
With that Mkai drops her to the floor, pacing back and forth as she coughs in a ball on the floor. " I
should kill you. " He says, clenching his fists.
I don''t process myself moving across the room until I''m right in front of him, looking into his ck eyes
and gripping his face in my hands. " Kai, it''s okay. Just rx. It''s alright. " I whisper to him, moving my
right hand into his hair, ying with it gently.
His eyes close and body slowly rxes in my touch, he leans his forehead against mine and wraps his
arms around my waist, holding me to him tightly. Everything is silent around us, everyone too scared to
move an inch after the scene that just unfolded before them.
When his eyes open they''re back to their normal blue, staring at me intensely. " I like when you call me
Kai. " he sends me a small smile, almost making meugh at how drastically different what he just said
was inparison to the threats he was making not even five minutes ago.
" I''ll do it more often then. " I mutter.
He lifts his head, pressing his lips to my forehead for a few seconds then he moves away from me. His
eyes fall onto Josephine, turning cold instantly. I reach out, grabbing his hand and intertwine our fingers
together, he gives my hand a light squeeze.
" Josephine, you are banished from this n and thisnd. I want you gone . Pack your things and say
your goodbyes immediately. " He announces.
Josephine''s head snaps up. " Don''t do this please Mal- "
" You will not call me by anything other than my given name and you will do what has been asked of
you. " Kai cuts her off.
" What about Olive? " Josephine asks, tears forming in her eyes.
" She has done nothing wrong, she is still a member of this n. As I said before, pack and say your
goodbyes. You''ll be gone within the hour or I will rip your head from your shoulders. " He warns her.
He turns his back on her and starts leading me out toward the stairs, as we start to walk them together
he calls down for anyone to hear him. " Someone fix the patio before the sunes up.
