It is the morning of the archery preliminaries. I have been placed in one of several large groups. To qualify I need to be one of only a few standing in the group. An outright winner is not required. This preliminary, unlike the silver spear tournament is not a tournament itself, just a way to reduce the number of contestants to manageable numbers at the main tournament.
Looks like they have turned one of the largest training grounds into a massive archery field. At one end archers are lining up side by side in small numbered squares. Each square has a young boy standing next to it, and further out on the field is a small mobile target with the same number. There is no bull''s-eye, I guess I just have to hit it. Having read the rules, I know that the boy is supposed to fetch my arrows for me while I stay in my square. He can also fetch new arrows if I need any replacing.

Surprisingly me and Kira are not the only ones using soul storage to quickly summoning arrows. It is actually quite common. And here I thought this was my original invention. As my arrow boy hands me my arrows I inspect them. I notice Kira doing the same. There is no damage to any of them. As I prepare for the second round, the rules change. The targets are moved further away and we now have four seconds to put all arrows in the target.
