Chapter 51.
Nelly’s POV.
| walked into my room and sat down on the edge of my bed, my heart pounding in my chest. | took a de
breath. My hands trembled as | opened the diary and began to turn
the pages, my eyes scanning the words and pictures with trepidation.
On one page, | saw a faded photograph of a young girl with bright blue eyes and blonde hair. She looked nothing like me or my
brother, and nothing like our alpha, Kexte beta. As | stared harder, | saw it was Emily.
The door to my room burst open, and Alpha Kex strode into the room, his expression unreadable. | scrambled to hide the diary
under my pillow, my heart pounding in my chest.
Alpha Kex’s gazended on me, and | forced a smile onto my face, trying to hide my fear.
| stammered, my wordsing out in a jumble. “I-I was not expecting you.”
H
Alpha Kex’s gaze fell on the pillow that | had just been concealing the diary under, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.
| stood up and took a step towards him, my heart pounding in my chest. | leaned in and. ced a soft kiss on his lips, and to my
surprise, he responded in kind. His arms. wrapped around my waist, pulling me close.
“Someone’s missed me,” he murmured, his breath hot against my cheek.
| let out a breathy moan, my body trembling in his embrace. | was grateful that | was able to distract him.
He broke away from our kiss, his gaze intense as he looked at me. He ced his hand on my cheek, his touch gentle.
His gaze drifted back to the pillow again, and | kissed him. As our lips met, | reached for the buttons of his shirt, gently undoing
them one by one. His breath caught in his throat, his eyes flickering with desire.
But just as my fingers grazed thest button, he grabbed my hands and pulled them away, breaking the kiss. | looked up at him,
my heart sinking as | saw the coldness in his
eyes.
“| can’t do this,” he said, his voice hollow. “There’s something | need to tell you,” he said,

his voice serious.
| felt a knot forming in my stomach, a sense of dread creeping over me. “What is it?” | asked, my voice shaking.
He took a deep breath, as if steeling himself for what he was about to say.
“We can’t see each other anymore,” he said, his words cutting through my heart like a knife.
“What?” | gasped, my eyes wide with shock.
“| can’t see you again,” he repeated, his voice thick with emotion.
“But why?” | asked, my voice trembling.
“| would rather not hurt Emily,” he said, his gaze downcast.
“You...in love with her?” | asked, my heart sinking in my chest.ConTEent bel0ngs to N?v(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
“No! | promised her brother, before he died, that | would take care of her and found out from Emily that among hisst wishes
was for us to be together,” he said, his voice. breaking. “And | want to honor that.”
“Are you kidding me?” | said, my voice rising in anger. “You''re rejecting your mate because of Emily?”
He shook his head. “It’s not a rejection,” he said, his tone even, but there was something in his eyes that | couldn’t quite ce.
“If it’s not a rejection, then what is it?” | demanded, my hands balled into fists.
“| don’t know,” he said, his shoulders slumping as he exhaled.
“You can’t just hurt someone because you''re trying to fulfill some kind of duty,” | said, my voice shaking with emotion. “That''s
bullshit and you know it.”
“How dare you?” he snapped, his eyes shing with anger. “You''re insulting my friend, the person who helped me be the
man | am today.” | felt my anger rising to meet his. “I won''t tolerate you talking about the people | care about like that!” he yelled.
“What about your mate?” | shot back, my voice rising to meet his. “Doesn’t she deserve. to be loved? What did she do to deserve
this?”
He fixed me with a hard stare, his eyes glittering with anger. “It''s none of your business,” he said, his voice low and dangerous.
“But I’m not going to sit here and let you talk about the people | love like that. Besides, we both know you don’t know my
and mate and all these things you are doing is because you are pained | am leaving you,

you are hiding it trying to use my mate as a cover up.”
| was at a loss for words. Was he really, | stood there, speechless, not knowing what to say or how to react? Was he really
saying that he knew | loved him?
| crossed the room in a few quick strides, my hand finding the door handle and wrenching it open.
“I''m worried about your mate,” | said, turning to face him, my voice shaking with emotion. “Because | know how it feels to be
rejected. Now get out of my room.”
He looked at me, his eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched. “Are you chasing me?” he asked, his voice low and dangerous.
“Get the hell out of my room,” | yelled, the hurt boiling over, spilling out of

“You''ll regret this, you know,” he said, his voice low and threatening.
| could feel my anger turning to fear, and | took a step back. But he didn’t leave. Instead, he stood there, his eyes cold and
calcting, staring at me with an intensity that made my skin crawl.
| had thought | knew him, but now | saw the true face of the ruthless Alpha, Kex that had been lurking just beneath the surface.
“Get out,” | screamed, my voice raw with emotion. “I hate you!”
His eyes shed with a mixture of hurt and anger, and he turned to leave, mming the door behind me.
In a fit of anger, | grabbed the nearest object — a vase — and hurled it across the room. It shattered against the wall, the sound of
breaking ss echoing through the space.
| began to grab other things, tossing them to the ground, letting out my rage and frustration with each new crash and thud. | was
furious at Kex, at Astel, and most of
all, at myself.
| had let myself believe that this time would be different, that Kex would be different from the men who had used and abandoned
me before. But | was wrong. They were all
the same.
As | picked up a pillow, ready to hurl it to the ground, | noticed something underneath it. It was Emily’s diary. | hadpletely
forgotten about it in my anger. | hesitated for a moment, and then, with trembling hands, | opened it. As | leafed through the
pages, my anger faded, reced by a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. | saw myself reflected in the words on the pages.
