    "Ava, Love? I''m back." Nik slipped in through our bedroom door.

    happens to you?" Tears burned at the back of my eyes even at the thought of something happening to


    him. I ced my hand over his chest, right over his heart, feeling the warmth of his flesh and hearing


    the sound of his heartbeat. "I need you here with me. Alive, safe and healthy. I don''t care about


    anything else. Only you." Thedy in my dreams had told me to protect Nik. To keep him safe. I can''t

    "Nothing is going to happen to me, Love. Don''t you trust me?" He whispered. "Think about all those

    "I trust you. But we are outnumbered. I know that. We are hardly two hundred in the pack,?including?

    I was freshly showered after my practice and I had a towel wrapped around my body. I looked at myself

    needed a haircut. My hair was growing too fast. I tucked the small lock of hair that had escaped behind


    my ears and pinched my cheeks for some more natural blush. I threw the towel in the hamper and


    walked into the closet. I selected a white dress that came just above my knees.


    After I was ready, I went down to the kitchen. The men were gone, just as I had expected so it was all


    empty here except of Sasha.


    "Can I get a banana-nute milkshake ?" I settled on the barstool at the counter. Nik''s love for sweets


    and Nute has rubbed off on me.


    "Of course. Give me five minutes, Luna." She smiled and bowed her head. Now, along with cooking,


    she was also making me my milkshake.


    I saw a bottle full of blood and bandage tied around her hand.


    "Is that for Max and Natalia?" I pointed towards the bottle and the food she was cooking.


    "Yes, Luna. I have to go over to their current house and give it to them." She replied and passed me my


    milkshake.


    "Why don''t you take some rest? I''ll give it to them today." I told her. She must feel drained after the


    removal of blood and I needed to talk and apologise to the couple.


    She looked hesitant but remained quiet. I finished my milkshake and by that time, she had packed food


    for them. I tried to mind link Nik but his link was shut. Maybe he is busy. So I left him a messaging


    saying that I was going over to Max and Nat''s.


    "Where is all of this to be delivered?" I asked.


    "A driver will be waiting out front, Luna. He will take you there." She followed me out of the house,


    carrying the packed food.


    The driver looked shocked to see me but he also remained quiet. Sasha ced everything in the car


    and I settled in the back seat.


    The driver took off. In about fifteen minutes, on the road, he took a left to go through a narrow trail in


    the middle of the woods. A wolf started running besides the car and the driver stopped. He rolled down


    the window to look at the wolf and he told him that we had food for Max and Nat.


    The wolf yipped and left.


    "What was that?" I asked once the driver started the car again.


    "No one is allowed in this area, Luna. The Alpha has forbidden it till further notice. He was the patrol


    wolf." He answered.


    Oh.


    The wolf I met yesterday must have been guarding the same area.


    But why?


    We soon reached a clearing and the driver stopped the car. "We are here, Luna."


    I got off with the food parcel. The house was a two storey wooden build beach side house. I could see


    the open beach on the other side of the house. It looked so peaceful. Why was it guarded so much?


    Are Max and Nat in trouble?


    Should I be worried?


    Is this really the right ce?


    I looked at the driver who had an impassive face. He bowed his head at me.

    I started my trek up to the house and knocked on the door. I waited for minute and no one opened. I

    room and smiled a bit when I saw Max''s silhouette. The floor to ceiling window behind him was open, I


    could see the bright beach. And the lighting in from behind him made it hard to see him clearly.

    And then hisrge figure moved, revealing Natalia.
