I ended the call after that bizarre statement Kaiden made. “Safiya was going to apologize? Why did
I find it unlikely?” Something was definitely going on.
Safiya wasn’t one to apologize. She never apologized. I wondered what happened to her now.
Iid back in my bed as I pulled the duvet to my shoulders and stared nkly at the ceiling. ‘How
did I find myself in this mess?‘
If only Kaiden had epted me as his mate, if only Safiya wasn’t in the picture, maybe I could have
had my own happy ending, but the goddess had other ns.
‘Was everything going to turn out alright?‘ ‘Even if Safiya apologized, was it going to solve

I just hoped Kaiden kept his promise because he never kept his promises, Just then, the door to my
room creaked open and Lyra walked in. I was surprised as I quickly adjusted myself to at sitting
position. “Lyra” I called out softly.
“Hey, umm I noticed the lights in your room were still on so I wanted to check if everything was
okay“, She stated sheepishly and I was dumbfounded.
Lyra hade to check on me?. The same Lyra who had. withdrawn to herself for the past few
days, took the initiative toe to ask me if I was okay? Thank you goddess. Even Gial purred in
delight. She had missed Lyra. Everyone had..
I wasted no time as I quickly patted the bed for her to join me. which she did happily. “So what’s
wrong?“she asked as she made herselffortable on the bed and I sighed.
“It’s Kaiden, he called me a few minutes ago“. “Kaiden called. you?“, she asked in disbelief and
shook my head in affirmation.
“I didn’t know he was the one otherwise I wouldn’t have picked. the call” I stated. “So what did he
pay?” She asked curiously.
“He said Safiya was going to apologize to me in front of everyone at the pack council tomorrow and
I should be there” I stated.
“Wow, for real. I’m so happy for Freda. Finally, Safiya would be kept in her ce. I am going to
follow you tomorrow to witness. the drama“. She gushed excitedly and I sighed. “I just hope he
really does what he says, because you know how Kalden is.

“He better keep his promise if he still cherishes his balls” Lyra growled and Iughed. I missed this

“Okay I’ll leave you now, it’s quitete” she stated as she came down from the bed and walked
towards the door.
“Lyra” I called out before she could open the door and she turned to me with a bright smile. “Thank
you for checking up on me. I missed this. Thank you Lyra“. I said with a voice filled with so much
emotion..
“Anytime Freda you’d do the same thing for me* she stated. ‘But then why can’t you tell me what’s
been bothering you?‘ These words were at the tip of my tongue just waiting for me to utter them but
I just shook my head.
“Good night Lyra” I said instead and she nodded and walked out. Baby steps Freda, baby steps. We
would take this one day at a time. It was already a great thing Lyra took the initiative to seek me out
tonight.
Everything would be alright I thought as I settled back in bed and turned out the lights. Each day for
it’s own troubles. I closed my eyes and dozed off.
The next morning. I woke up a bit groggy from sleep and checked the time. I let out a loud yawn as
my eyesnded on the clock on the nightstand.
‘Oh my days‘! I had woken up a bitte today and I had to prepare Cisco for school. I jumped off the
bed and headed for the bathroom to wash myself up quickly.

I ran downstairs only to find Cisco already ready and dressed. I was surprised. “I noticed you slept
in today so I decided to get Cisco ready“. Lyra muttered sheepishly as she tucked her hair. behind
her ear.
“Oh thank you so much Lyra I couldn’t have managed it without. you. Cisco did you say, thank you
to your aunty Lyra for getting. you ready on time?“. I asked and he shook his head as he turned. to
face Lyra.
“Thank you aunty Lyra” he cooed adorably and she smiled and. rubbed his hair affectionately. I
quickly went to the kitchen and whipped up a quick breakfast and also packed Cisco’s lunch. and
rushed to my room to get ready.
Soon we were ready about to leave when Cole walked into the room. “Good morningdies,
gentleman” he chirped and Cisco giggled.
“Hey Freda I can offer to take Cisco to school if you don’t mind” Cole stated. “No thank you Cole for
the offer but I’m also heading somewhere after dropping Cisco off so it’s no trouble“.
Lyra and I were going to head to the pack council after dropping Cisco off at school. Thest thing I
wanted was Cole tagging along. Thankfully he nodded. “Umm, breakfast is in the kitchen” I hollered
as we left the house.
We arrived at the school shortly after and I walked Cisco to the school gate where I spotted Kaiden
waiting right there..
‘What did he want?‘ As if sensing my thoughts he walked to Cisco and held his hand as Cisco
smiled brightly at him. “Good morning uncle” he greeted and Kaiden smiled. “Good morning –
champ“. He said with simr enthusiasm and I narrowed my
