I smiled for the umpteenth time as I thought of Freda’s words. ‘He’s just a friend’. Iughed as I
swirled in my chair. Fredal hadn’t hooked up with anyone since she rejected me.

way he looked at her. That wasn’t the way a friend looked at another friend. I clenched my jaw as
my mood immediately soured.
Coming to a decision, I called one of my guards over. “Keep a close eye on Freda and her…new
friend. I want you to report every single thing to me, and make sure you do it discreetly. They
mustn’t be aware. Understood?”
