“Hello, Mr. Stirling, this is Harper’s teacher” My face lit up with surprise when I heard the voice but
what threw me off was the panic and urgency in her voice. Was everything okay?
While enrolling Harper, Safiya and I had given our contacts to the school management including
Harper’s ss teacher and if I recall correctly, we had hers as well so why was this an unknown
number?
My heart raced with many thoughts and questions within just a second as I remained rooted without
saying a word in response to her introduction.
uld feel her “Harper’s teacher?” I heard Safiya behind me and I getting tensed. Shoot, I had
mistakenly ced the call on speaker.
“Mr. Stirling, are you there?” Thedy’s voice pulled back my attention and I nodded as though she
could see me
“Yes, is there any problem?” I asked, my heart thumping in my ribcage. I hope my baby girl wasn’t in
trouble because that’s what it seemed to be.
“S.. sir, there was an ident over here. Your daughter was pushed down the stairs while ying
and she’s currently in the infirmary”
My heart sank to the bottom of my chest and I swallowed, “What?”

“Your presence is required, sir. Pleasee soon” She ended the call before I could say another
word.
I stared at the device, shaken, inwardly writhing in pain. My whole body went numb and I stood
frozen. I came out of reverie when I felt my phone drop to my foot.
“W… What did she just say?” Safiya stammered as she rushed to my side, she had been crying
earlier but now it was worse, and for the right reason. A part of me was d she cared for our
daughter.
Amidst the feeling of appreciation for her concern, I was scared for my daughter, what condition was
she in at the moment?
Stay here, Safiya. Get some rest, I’ll go to Harper” I told her and. dashed out of the room but she
followed. I could hear her footsteps close to me as she ran down the stairs. ad to stop and take her
hand to guide her to the car. She was panting already.
When we got into the car, I drove out of the house roughly, and through the drive, I didn’t mind how
many rules I had broken as long as we could make it to Harper as soon as possible. While I was
trying hard not to think of how badly I would destroy the school if anything happened to my child,
Safiya was in tears, inconsble.
I tried consoling her but she wouldn’t stop so I let her be knowing that I also felt like wailing but was
only holding back for whatever reasons.
Upon reaching the school, we jumped out of the car heading toward the building in search of the
infirmary. When we got there, we spotted Harper on the first bed beside the door with a

bandage wrapped around her head.
Safiya jumped to her side at once, crying harder now. Seeing my daughter lying there, pale and
quiet made me want to punch something. Anything.
How careless could they be?
Tears threatened to spill from my eyes and I blinked them back, biting my lips so hard that I almost
drew blood.
The teacher whom I presumed was the one who called, came running into the room after us,
panting.
“What exactly happened?” I demanded angrily and she gulped, panic washing over her features.
“She was ying with a pupil when she fell down the stairs, Mr. Stirling. It was an ident. In an
attempt to save her from falling, another pupil also got injured” She recounted, choosing her words
carefully as she could still sense my anger.
However, after her exnation, I was left speechless. I knew idents weremon with kids at
school but this was too much for me to take in. Then another pupil getting hurt because of my
daughter, made me overwhelmed with emotions. Just how much purer could kids get, even during
such a situation, a child tried to save her.
Loosening up from my uptight and angry expression, I
requested her for the kid, even though he or she didn’t seed in the quest to save Harper, they
tried and also got a scar for that.
“Sir, he’s right here. It was a bad fall” She said, her voice calm

She pointed to the bed behind me and when my eyes fell on the child lying on it, my heart almost
jumped out of my chest and this time, the tears I had tried so hard to contain came falling out of my
eyes. It was Francisco. My son.

Two of my kids were lying side by side, both in pain. To think he tried to save his sister.
I didn’t know how to react, my bones felt weak and frozen. I wiped my tears as the teacher rounded
to tuck him in properly.
“He must be the one who pushed my daughter. Stop making up stories, I know he did it!” Safiya’s
tearful yet shrill
ice reverberated through the room. I gasped, she was using my
son.
How cold could she be to the reality here? Why would Cisco take the risk of harming someone
else?
He wouldn’t even think to harm Harper in the first ce. They were friends. He probably had run to
her aid to save his friend.
“Safiya stop it” I turned to a tearful Safiya, she was cradling Harper in her arms.
“What do you mean, Kaiden? Can’t you see, that boy pushed our daughter off the stairs? I just know
it!” She persisted with her usations and I exhaled tiredly, she was worried, I get it but was there
any need to cause a scene?

I knew she only wanted to spite Freda before me but she had no idea that he was my son and I
wouldn’t believe her words even if it were another child over there instead of Cisco.
“I think you’re mistaken, Mrs. Stirling. Fransisco didn’t push Harper off the stairs, he was actually
attempting to save her but fell along in the process” The teacher exined, “Fransisco is a good
