I avoided Safiya right from the moment we got to our quarters. I was convinced she was in a
mission to frustrate me, push me over the edge and the cause me to hurt her. As much as I possibly
could, I was not going to let her seed with that.
I sighed and ran my hand through my hair as I walked out of the Alpha quarters and into the main
living area of the pack house. I headed towards the cafeteria because the burger and fries there
were absolutely to die for and I was starving badly.
As soon as I walked in, several eyesnded on …e. I was used to that, since I was the alpha. What
I was not used to was the way everyone hurriedly looked away when I looked back at them. My wolf
growled in my head and Ipletely ignored him because I was still furious with him for losing
control and almost making me hit our wife.
I sighed. I had not apologized to her for that, because I had been wary of her. I had even been
avoiding her because I did not want her to provoke me or my wolf again.
Maybe I would get her favorite snack and apologize to her, because no matter how much she
annoyed me or frustrated me, she was still the Luna of the pack by marrying me and I had publicly
disrespected her, she was still my wife and I had scared her.

I could feel more eye on me and it was not in the way tney
usually looked at me, it was not with the eyes of admiration and respect. No. They looked at me
with disgust and when I looked back at them, they would look away.
Was it just in my head or was something going on?
I got my burger, fries and a croissant with hot chocte. I left the cafeteria and it’s unusual silence
and just before I left the room, I heard them all start to talk at once again.
“I can’t believe he hit the Luna.”
“He’s such a good Alpha, how is he an abuser?”
“Imagine it being so bad that he does it in public…”
“He must be an amazing pretender to have fooled us this whole time.”
“He’s a man. You never know with men.”
“Poor Luna, she’s pregnant!”
“Their poor daughter. Oh no…”
The words kepting into my ears and my blood ran cold. This was bad. This was really bad.
Suddenly, my appetite was gone. Far gone.

“How did this happen? Why are these rumors going around?” | asked, pacing the width of my office
with a worried frown on my face.

I was furious and frustrated.
“It seems people saw what happened outside of the pack house this morning and they blew it out of
proportion,” he said and quickly corrected himself. Violence was not something anyone should say
was being blown out of proportion. I had almost hit Safiya. Those were the exact words that people
were supposed to say.
“I mean, as the word of it spread, it started to change ording to different ounts, you know.
The way news spreads,” he corrected himself. And what he said made sense.
A guard hurried into the room without knocking and I was too frustrated to be angry at him for
interrupting a meeting with my beta.
“What is the way forward?” I asked my beta, de ding to ignore the guard that had rushed into the
room.
Before my beta, Dane could respond, the guard spoke. “Alpha,” he said, his voice taking a pleading
tone. “I do not mean to disturb you, but the pack werewolf council has summoned an urgent

looked at me and he looked deep in thoughts. “What are we going to do now?” He asked the same
question I had asked him seconds ago and I sighed.
“I’ll handle them. You handle the rumors. They are not true. I’ll offer a public apology to my wife.” I
told him and walked out, heading to the meeting room where the werewolf council which I was a
member of always held its meetings.

“Alpha Kaiden, what is this we are hearing?” Gorden, a friend of my father’s asked me once
everyone was seated and the meeting hadmenced. I let out a sigh and rubbed my face with
stress. “Whatever it is you have heard, it is not true,” I said, shaking my head.
“How would you know what we have heard?” He asked again and I sighed, knowing he was grilling
me because he was my father’s friend and they had trained me better than to hit
women.
“Some preposterous rumors are going around about me hitting the Luna,” I said taking a pause and
allowing th to absorb what I had said. “I’ll admit that I did lose my temper and I almost hit her, but I
would never. I stopped myself. I’m sorry. I am truly sorry. I will ept any punishment you give me
and I will offer a public apology to the whole pack and go my Luna especially,” I said with a somber
tone.
Gorden was the one in charge of the council whenever the alpha could not take care of it and now
was a time I could not take
care of it.
He looked at the other members of the council and they sent me out of the meeting room so they
could decide the appropriate punishment for me.
