Chapter 1: She Hit Someone

    “Qin Youxuan, don’t thinking back will change anything, there is no ce for you in this family anymore…”


    “Actually, it’s quite easy for you to find relief, just die! Just like your ipetent mother, it would solve all problems…”


    Night, haunting.


    The shy sports car is zing down the road.


    “ZOOOM——”


    Qin Youxuan’s hands grip the steering wheel, the elerator pedal is floored.


    The wind rushes in from the windows, brushing her long hair aside.


    Her beautiful face devoid of any expression, her eyes like twinkling stars, burn with raging fury.


    She uses the elerator pedal beneath her foot to vent her anger, flooring it to reach top speed.


    “HONK HONK——”


    Just as she turned on the indicator, before she could switchnes, arge truck came straight towards her, its dazzling headlights blinding her.


    Abruptly Qin Youxuan hits the gas pedal, and the car swerves directly towards the sidewalk.


    In the dim light, a tall figure leaps in front of her car.


    “Ah——”


    Qin Youxuan ms on the brakes, a screeching noise apanied by a dull thud.


    She had hit someone…


    Startled, Qin Youxuan opens her eyes wide, her breath bing rapid.


    She reaches for the purse on the front passenger seat, pulls out her mobile phone, and tremblingly dials 120.


    “No!”


    Hastily, she hangs up the phone and clutches it to her chest.


    She can’t afford any negative news at this crucial time when she is fighting for her family’s inheritance.


    If the ambnce and the police arrive, so will the media…


    She can’t lose.


    Qin Youxuan takes a deep breath and pats her pale face.


    Don’t panic, everything will be fine.


    She unbuckles her seatbelt, pushing open the car door with a feigned calm, and gets out.


    In the dim light, she can’t clearly see the pedestrian she has hit.


    She could vaguely recognise from his physique that he’s a man. His chest is moving weakly, but it was still noticeable.


    He’s quite a distance from her car, and she can’t tell immediately if she has hit him.


    Luckily, there’s no blood on him, he should be okay.


    Qin Youxuan grits her teeth, helps the man up, struggles to drag him into the car, buckles him up, and then restarts the car.


    She chooses the nearest hotel, calls the bellhop to help transport the man to a guest room.


    “Miss Qin, we’ve settled him in. Do you need us to prepare some hangover tea for your boyfriend?” asked the clerk respectfully.


    “N-no, thank you,” Qin Youxuan swiftly waves her hand, it was just an excuse she had randomly made up.


    She thought for a moment, “Could you get me a first-aid kit?”


    A life was at stake, though she was in a bind, she still needed to be prepared for any eventuality.


    If worstes to worst, she will have to send him to a hospital.


    “Sure, please wait a moment.” The clerk quickly brought her a first-aid kit. After receiving it, Qin Youxuan went back to her room.


    She sits on the sofa in the bedroom, nervously watching the man lying on the bed.


    He is tall, his muscr body imposing and oppressive just by looking at it.


    Just a silhouette is enough to evoke an indescribable sense of ustrophobia.


    His head is pressed against the pillow, Qin Youxuan can’t see his features clearly, yet his face silhouette is alluring.


    Qin Youxuan moves the first-aid kit to the side of the bed, then goes into the bathroom.


    She ns to wash her face first, then check the man for injuries.


    “Phew ——”


    She sshes a handful of water on her face.


    Qin Youxuan heaves a deep sigh, the shock of having hit someone finally receding a bit.


    The sound of running water drowns out all other noises until she straightens up from the sink, preparing to reach for the towel, when suddenly the light goes out.


    “Ah——”


    In the darkness, a hand grabs her wrist.
