Chapter 6
I am now 5 months pregnant, my mood swing is not good at all and my food craving is bad I always
crave roadside food or canned food, I feel tired every time, whenever I want to eat Jack did not sit with
me because my food is weird, sometimes I eat fries with chocte, toast with ice cream, bread with
boiled egg and ketchup.
I am still working though, because Jack did not contribute much to this pregnancy, he always gives me
excuse because of the business he invested in but he did not tell me the details about this business.
"Jack I want to go and visit my parent, I don''t maybe you want toe with me," I said sitting in the
living room after having dinner.
"No problem you can go and I don''t want to go, I have a lot of things here to do, and extend my
greeting to them. When are you going?" He asked
"I want to go during the weekend and I wille back the next weekend, I will take a week leave from
work tomorrow," I said
When I get to work the next day I apply for leave and I get it, I also tell my boss that I am going to
resign when my pregnancy reaches 7 or 8 months because I need to save a lot of money, I pray to God
that I can be able to work till that time and safe delivery because sometimes I feel tired, weak and dizzy
and it is now happening continuously.
I am now on my way to my parents'' house, I just get out of the airport, I am inside a cab, I told them I
aming but I did not tell them the day because I want to surprise them.
I reach for the front door and knock, I can hear my mum voice saying who is there I did not say
anything I just wait for her to open the door, immediately she opens the door and saw me and my baby
bump she screams and pulls into a hug and next thing I hear that my mum is crying, I pull away and
see her face before I could say anything I hear my dad voice asking my mum what happen to her that
makes her scream when he reaches the front door and he saw me he hug me and tell me toe
inside.
"Be my precious daughter how are you doing? How is Jack? Why did he note with you and how
is my granddaughter in your belly? Hope she is kicking very well?" my dad asks, yes I am having a girl
"Hey dear, one question at a time, let her answer one question before you ask another," my mom said
and wipe her tear.
"Dad, Mom I am fine as you can see, Jack is busy with some work that is why he is noting and
your granddaughter is fine" I answer looking around for my brother but they said they are out with their
friends and if they know I aming today they will not go anywhere.
"But Be are you sure there is nothing wrong between you and Jack because now he is not like before
again, he rarely calls us and when I call him, he will not pick my call and when he picks he will say that
he is busy that is why he is not able to call or pick our calls," my Dad said
"Dad, everything is fine, you know is not easy going to work and having a pregnant woman at home,
keeping up to my mood swing and my weird food and the preparation of our wedding is there, that is
why everything will soon be back to normal," I said I don’t want to let them know anything, I am going to
fight for myself for the sake of my daughter.
I spend a good time with my family, my mum gives me a massage every night and rubs my feet, she
prepares a lot of food that a pregnant woman supposed to eat to keep the baby and the mother
healthy, my brother always takes me out for a walk every evening, they keep up with my mood swing
every time. This is what I supposed to experience with Jack.
My mom enters my room and I was cut off my thought and she sits beside me and wipes tears away
from my eyes that I don''t know is there, as soon as she wipes my tears I move closer to her and cry on
her shoulder. She sits beside me not saying anything just patting my back.
"I am sorry mom for ruining your clothes, I don’t know why I am crying I think it is part of the pregnancy
hormone" I move away from her and saying rubbish I don’t want her to know anything
"Hmm…. Be, did you think I am a baby? I am your mother and I know when you are angry, sad or
happy, I know that there is something wrong between you and Jack but if you don''t want to tell me, no
problem but always remember that I am here for you, I will listen to you whenever you want to talk
about it" my mom said

"Thanks mum, I am sure everything will be fine soon," I said and we discuss some other topic, I don''t
want to tell her anything now maybe everything will be fer, I don’t want them to have bad feelings
or bad intention toward Jack.
She left me and went to her room because it is already night time, I called Annie and we talk a lot, she
told me that she is deciding maybe she ise back to California to settle down finally, she is a model
and she has her own fashionpany, she wants to quit modeling and base on her fashionpany,
we talk of other things then say our goodbyes.
The next morning my parent and my brothers said they have a surprise for me so I should note out
of my room, so they brought breakfast and lunch for me in my room. After finishing my lunch my friend
brought a nice dress for me, my friend that introduce me to the restaurant when I want to work, her
name is Sophia, I have not met her since I came to visit my parent.
When she opens my room door I don’t know she is the one, as soon as she opens the door, she
screams my name and jumps on me.
"Wow, I am so sorry my peanut(referring to my baby bump) I hope I did not hurt you? How are doing
Be? So if your mum did not call me that you are around, you won''t bother to call me or check on me"
Sophia said
"I am so sorry, that I did note on time, but I can''t go back without checking on you, I will stille
or call you, you should know that," I said
"No problem, I forgive you because of my little peanut" She kneels in front of me and kisses my belly
"This is your dress for tonight," she said
"What are you guys nning? I can''t understand, today is not my birthday, I have not to get married so
today is not my wedding anniversary please tell me" I said making a funny face
"That face of yours can''t deceive me, it is better you get prepared and see by yourself because I am
not telling you anything, it is called a surprise if I tell you now it is no more a surprise," she said bringing
out makeup set from her handbag
"You know I am …….. " she cut me off before I say anything
"Stand up and get ready before I kick your ass"
"Watch yournguage girl don''t let my daughter hear you" she startedughing
"Oh Mother hen, my peanut can''t hear anything, so get inside that bathroom and have a good shower,"
she said
I get inside the bathroom and have a quick shower, after the shower Sophia do my make-up and I get
dressed, after getting dress up, we took a quick selfie, then my mume inside
"Wow my baby is so beautiful"
"Mum I am no more a baby, in some month now I am going to be a mother myself so I am not a baby," I
said
"No matter how big you are, no matter how many children you have, you are still my baby," she said
and she told us that after she gives Sophia a missed call we shoulde out.
My mum went out of my room so I and Sophia are discussion about what I missed when I went to
California, she told me about herself, how she works and sponsor herself to go to college, she told me
about her boyfriend, after like twenty minutes of talking, her phone rings, she said it''s my mum meaning
we have to go out, we step into the living room, the light is off, everywhere in the living room is a little
bit dark I can see that there more people and soon everybody shout SURPRISE, after that the light was
turned on. That is when I know that they are given a surprise baby shower.
