    Chapter 15

    Saving the ninth Girl

Damien woke up while the girls were still fast asleep. It was the birth of a new dawn. No idle clouds

were seen making a scene in the sky.

He looked around the room. It was too tiny. If he decided to start the real project, he would do nothing

but wake them up. That would unfair. He remembered that they were dead drunk yesterday and their

    heads must be aching.

IF WE ALL HAVE TO LEAVE TOGETHER, IT’S ABOUT TIME I STARTED WORKING ON THE REAL

    PROJECT.

He thought to himself. It seemed like he was the one dying it. But that wasn’t really the case. He had

been busy with couple of thingstely. And to think of it, all the girls were now with him.

He made sure to secure them in safely before leaving. There was no sense of threat around. He left for

    the woods.

He flipped the window of the system out to reveal the points.

    “13,000 experience points.”

He was d that his points was increasing. It felt like his achievements were at the peak. He couldn’t

imagine the numbers of things he would be able to do with the points.

(Ping! Unlocked the JUNGLE WITS feature.]

    “Feature.”

Damien repeated, getting to the border of the vige of the cannibals. “Why is it called a feature instead

    of a skill?”

While he was walking through the woods, before getting there, he’d noticed that the woods was

unusually quiet. At first he thought that it was natural since the day was just dawning. Only for a

random feature to be unlocked when he arrived here. “300 experience points for exchange.”

That wasn’t muchpared to the amount of points he had now. He decided to exchange points for

    the new feature,

(Ping! Host has exchanged 300 points for the Jungle Wits feature.)

(Note: This featurees with hidden secrets of the ind. The host will randomly get strange

understanding of unknown facts and paths.)

“This skill sounds so valuable but strangely cheap.”

He quit talking and brought out tools from the system store. He walked to the nearest sturdy tree and

climbed up effortlessly. He began to cut the trees into the needed shapes. Before, he couldn’t lift a

short stump from a big tree, but now he could carry twice the size without feeling it. It was very strange.

“Could this be the effects of the experience points. Does the points make me stronger?”

He was bing muscr. The cutting and lifting had also added to his abs. He lifted up his cloth

slowly to reveal a set of forming packs. Don’t packs grow after months of exercising? It’s even barely a

    week!

    “Howe I didn’t notice this?”

Not only was he getting stronger internally and mentally, but physically also.

He started connecting the perfectly shaped logs with wires, making wooden bars which he would set

up. After he had done that for about an hour, he began to erect the wooden bars as fences. He made

the wooden bar two feet higher than the fence surrounding the safehouse.

The climbing skill helped him get to the top of erected fences safely, which made it easy to fix as many

hunting knives as possible into the top of the fences. (Ping! System notification! Points or Tips?) The

system asked him. That was strange. The system never asked his opinion before. Perhaps it was

beginning to grow on him. Also, he only just discovered that the system has a notification bar. “Tips?”

That was the right thing to say. He had enough points. [Ping! Noticing that the host of this powerful

system seeks to keep the predators away. It’s important to know that the smell of the Aciatus root is a

cannibal’s allergy.) “Oh wow. They have an allergy?” Damien jumped off the fence. “But what is an

Acatius root? How do I know it when I find it?” Suddenly he recalled that he just exchanged points for

the JUNGLE WITS feature. He began to search the woods for the root but he couldn’t find it. He got

frustrated. “Why isn’t this fucking Jungle shit kicking in? shouldn’t it help me find the root?” He flipped

the system window out and scrolled through. Then he noticed that he didn’t activate it yet.

“Do I have to activate it? But I didn’t activate other skills I — oh, this is a feature. Makes sense.

He activated the feature. As soon as he activated it, a strange force tugged at his instinct and it

seemed as though he was the one who founded the Ind. His instinct led him this time.

He stopped at the clusters of shrubs. He couldn’t find a thing. He felt like kneeling down and he did. He

looked under the shrubs and saw little red nts whose blue flowers kissed the damp earth.

He began to pluck them. He put the flower to his nose. The smell was so fragrant and brain melting

“Real strange.” He muttered, thinking about how such pleasant smell could cause the cannibals

nausea. He squeezed three of the blue flowers and rubbed its liquid on his neck. He smelt great. He

followed the instinct to several other locations were the root was. He plucked as many as he could and

squeezed the root. He didn’t get the result he expected.

He decided to hang the roots on some of the spaces in the wooden bars of fences. But then he got

another idea. He began to nt the root at the base of the fences. After several hours of working, he

was done. Also, he was famished. He should return to thedies right? But no, he had something else

    in mind.

He climbed up the fence and tumbled down. “Shit, that hurts.”

He groaned but got back on his feet. He started to steal into the vige of the cannibals. He found it

odd that throughout the time he spent building the fence, none of the cannibals showed up. That did

poke his curiousity. There were many huts in the vige. “These creatures must be really intelligent.”

His eyes caught a sight. He hurried in the direction. There was still no cannibal in sight? Could the

vige really be empty? “No way!!”

He eximed, seeing ears of wheats and grains of rice. He had been thinking that they couldn’t keep

living on meat. And now, here was the answer.

    “Rice! Oh, God! Rice!!”

He was so excited that he forgot that he was trespassing. He plucked as many grains as possible. He

    made to leave.

But then, he heard a wave of noise swept to him by a hasty wind. The sun was already up and hot.

He hurried in the direction of the noise and halted. Cannibals with their back to him were

gathered in arger hut. Thergest in the vige.

He moved closer and closer till he could get a clearer view. The cannibals were taking turn in fondling

    the breast of —

    “Allison??”

Damien shouted. He couldn’t believe his eyes. There was Allison, the girl who had been missing since

    they arrived on the ind.

But not only Allison heard him, the cannibals did too. A troupe of them. Like about fifty or seventy.

    “No doubt, I’m dead.”

    In the ninth Girl

He swallowed, taking a step back. The cannibals turned with rage in their eyes. Damien pulled out his

revolver. There were only two bullets left. One of the Cannibals charged at him. He was quick, he sent

a bullet out which took that one down.

“Nowes the interesting part.” He muttered, getting ready for the worst case scenario. But he was

disappointed; At the ringing of the revolver, other cannibals dropped on their knees, and grapple at his

feet. The sound of the gun must make them think that he was a god. That scene was familiar. He

recalled that the same thing had happened before. But he didn’t have much time to take their respect.

He hurried past them to Allison. “Hey, Allison. I’m here, I’ll help you.”

Allison looked like a breathing corpse. Her hair disheveled, clothes torn, lips cracked, face fallen… he

felt pity for her. He forgot that she had one treated him like a trash.

He put her on his back and walked past the cannibals. One of them wanted to stop him but he pointed

    the gun again.

Also, it seemed like they couldn’te any closer. When he moved closer, they shooed off. Damien

remembered. It must be the Acatius root. With Allison on his back, he left the vige of the cannibals.

But of course he would be back. He has every reason to be.
