Outside was a forest, The edge of the forest was a wall. She lifted her skirt and climbed out. The night was as cool as water, and the dim light through the trees cast mottled shadows on her.

She turned back and looked at the door again, noticing it wasn’t locked.
Tentatively, she reached out and opened the door.
A staircase leading down appeared before her.
It was a basement. The voice wasing from there.
“Help me…” The voice echoed once more.
Aveline was sure now; she recognized this voice, and the person’s identity shed in her mind.
She just needed to see them to confirm who it was!
